Agreed, great interview.

To be honest though Gray I have felt very positive for the last few weeks despite Brooks going and the details of the ownership wrangle going public. Chris wouldn't be here if he wasn't happy and felt he had the backing he needs.

Loving the signings so far, a good mix of experience and youth, with efficient use of funds. We just need that additional striker now but will probably go on Saturday with what we already have, and I still think we will have enough to do Swansea.

Can't wait!

I too have a bit of a stiffy for the new season after being rendered decidedly flaccid in May by ownership wrangling and managerial uncertainty.

Here's hoping for an ejaculatory climax to the coming season.

Chance the Desso's getting bukkaked after the Ipswich home game.

Mind out groundsman.

CW is an absolute legend in the making. Everything he says is honest and in the best interests of the Blades. In this ^^^ interview (re. Bryan and Woodburn) he say's 'We're not lazy recruiters. There's a lot of teams out there who are lazy recruiters. They see someone and think 'He's a name. We'll just go out and get him'. Like Wednesday.

This was probably in response to somebody in the 'Manager's Special' programme who attacked United's scouting and recruitment structure. 'Look at Brentford' the guy in the audience said 'they always seem to find players.' Chris sighed and pointed out that Brentford employ 150 people in a building in West London who scout the globe to identify new talent and 'that doesn't come cheap.' Exactly.

The reality is we've sold Brooks and, if he doesn't get game-time at Bournemouth, it would make sense to loan him out at this pivotal stage in his development. Could he come back to the Blades? No. We've moved on and he's been replaced. True progress.

The thing that impresses me about Wilder is they way they go about transfers. He talks about it in that interview and it’s exactly
How you want your club to go about it. Roll on Saturday!

"We've hardly touched the Brooks money"...just listening to interview now...

Love him. So honest, says it as it is. Pigs will no doubt pick up those sly digs, but I like it.

The passion he has for this club just oozes through.

The guys not stupid he gives the media enough (and more) to keep them on side which helps with them promoting our club. (unlike Fawlty Towers at S6) Equally he gives us fans some interesting stuff. e.g "we've not even touched the Brooks money"

I could truly listen to the guy talk about us all day long. We saw it in the documentary last year. Love it, love it.

Bring on Saturday, I'm tingling with excitement.

Wow, how positive do I feel after listening to that.

One thing of note (and it was probably pre interview agreed) no questions on the squabble between the owners.

Surprised he admitted Brooke's money hardley touched, scuppers any begging bowl negotiations.

Lucky bunnies aren’t we to have someone like Chris Wilder.

Luck? Or maybe we've got it right for once. I see parallels between a certain 'old school' chairman at Derby County - Sam Longson - who was a local lad made good. Sam didn't rely on the latest fad (online gaming, Candy Crush fucking Saga) to make his fortune. Instead he built up a haulage company. Appointing a bright, upcoming manager he also realised that he was at his best with his trusted right-hand man. The rest is history.

I don't think CW would use the 'begging bowl' or 'pockets stuffed with gold' negotiating methods.
I think he has an internal 'value for money' level set for each potential recruit and won't go much higher no matter what.
Might be frustrating for us fans sometimes, but probably best for the Club in the long run (I hope!)

Fantastic interview as always!!
I don't know if he sets out to fire us up but he certainly gets the desired effect if he does.

Buying players is a lot like buying pints I guess, you wouldn't pay £5.00 for a pint of carling that's ridiculous, no way would anyone pay that (Waghorn). If it was £1.25 you'd have to be suspicious that its out of date (Nugent). If it was £2.50 that's fair enough, more or less what you'd expect to pay for what your getting (Freeman/Armstrong).

Very hard working bloke that Tufty. You got to admire that.

And he isn’t a busy fool either.

One smart cookie.

Yeah, they won the league, then fell out over Clough’s spending and drinking and Longson’s reluctance to continue funding the club until Clough’s arrogance got the better of him.

Don’t go drinking in London mate, you’ll never buy a pint. ;)

EFL review on TalkShite last night. The main bloke was a blogger for an EFL only podcast or something, knew his stuff. Absolutely enthused about Wilder, said he was more or less the most complete manager in the championship and tipped us for top six.
