I'm genuinely not taking the piss, Olle. It's quite common that moaners are more vocal than clappers - I wouldn't want the manager sacked simply because a couple of dozen of the 7 or so thousand yet to renew said Blackwell was the reason they weren't renewing. It shouldn't be claimed by the moaners that this is the reason the remainder haven't renewed.

That is fair enough. If people are happy with Blackwell or feel pleased, aggrieved whatever with anything that regards the club then they should let them know. If people don't want blackwell sacked, then by the same admission they should also right to Birch/McCabe.

My post was more about people putting their money where their mouth is (with the added possible benefit that KB might get the boot of course!? ;) )

Interesting that it's you who use the word "failure".

I would say if you are prepared to put up with uninspiring, negative, tedious and, frankly, dull football then that is what you will get. Whether that is then classed as failure is up to you.

But why is that deserved, just because you put up with it?

If you buy a used car from a garage and you get it home and it won't start and then you go and replace it at the same garage and it won't even get you home. What would you think you deserved from going back a third time?

Football isn't like a garage, you don't support one the same way you support a football club. You pay the football club to watch a game of football or a seasons worth of football (regardless of quality). You pay the garage for a working car or a car repair, which is expected to meet specific standards.

There are plenty of people who don't like the manager/chairman/tea lady/groundsman who go home and away every week. Why do they "deserve" a percieved poor showing, just because they still do this? in some ways, wouldn't it be quite the opposite? wouldn't they deserve a bit of rosyness for their unwavering commitment?

I'm not for one second suggesting any sort of bigger blade arguement there by the way! :)

Come on chaps, Kev and Trev aren't bothered what the fans think.
They're watching thousands of season ticket holders walk away with barely a whimper (beyond 'how about next season, Paddy's in net').
We're fucked as a club for the timebeing and just have to hope the other lot of comedians across the city don't get their act together.
Then again, if they do, I think you'll find the mood towards Kev and Trev will very rapidly alter.

Until now that has always been the case. Can't do it any longer. I care too much about the club to watch him suck the lifeblood out of it with his negativity.

Might be "tripe" to you but I find people willing to put up with rubbish will end up with what they deserve in the end.

These poor souls with their red tinted glasses can do mre damage than the protestors.

I say we ban those who go week in week out from being allowed to support the Blades, they are nothing but problems!

I... erm... agree with Lenners. I come at it from a slightly different angle, but I agree. We are fucked as a club for the time being. Nobody is waiting in the wings to throw money at us. No manager would relish the challenge of managing a club with such stringent wage-reduction targets and tight transfer policies whilst at the same time 20,000 fans are demanding that we get out of "this shit-hole league" so as far as I'm concerned, it's back to business come August. I don't know how much more I can take without losing my cool but NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE for the foreseeable future (at least not from Birch and McCabe's camp).

Some right tripe on here as usual. If you are a fan - & you can afford it, are in good health, can get to the match etc - you go regardless of who is manager. I support the Blades not Blackwell. Players & managers come and go but I've always been a fan & always will be.

Nice one and I couldn't agree more. :)

Your missing something.... Don't believe all what is said ;)

I'm not entirely sure what I shouldn't have believed? :)

Was it that pesky maths teacher?

Anyone else not really bothered about the moaners not renewing? They've been the worst aspect of matchdays for me for bloody ages.

well said ,been the worst part about going to the lane since we got relegated from the prem

12k have not renewed because of Blackwell. United always will have a core 12k fans who would renew if Lee Strafford was manager.

You do miss alot

I didn't say they had.

I was more concerned about what I'd missed in thinking 5k isn't a majority?

If only 5k don't renew, then they certainly aren't a majority? or does majority no longer mean the greater part or number; the number larger than half the total.

I'll be there Judgey next term. Moaning, booing, slating Blackwell and McCabe - can't wait!

How is 5k the majority? ~12k have already renewed?

Or am I missing something? :)

Firstly, i dont believe that all 12k are happy with KB, but fair play to them, they have payed their money and supporting their club, very admirable. But a certain section of that 12k would be happier without blackwell.

Secondly, it isnt just season tickets that make up our support on a matchday, we were averaging 25k (give or take) this seasons, Therefore, the 'majority i speak of' is the average attendance - ST sold.

Hate to be a nit-picker, but as a student of maths im pretty sure that makes 13k. This, in turn, results in a majority and hence the reasons for blackwells departure :)

I know full well that not all 12k are happy with Kevin Blackwell, but that wasn't the point.

But your point was, unless I misunderstand, that they should stop with the "pathetic" attempts at boosting renewals and do something that would make the majority renew?

With 12k having already renewed, have they not already got the majority of potential renewers, renewed?

It's impossible for those who don't currently have a season ticket to renew :)

It's also impossible at this stage to predict the number of non-season ticket holders that'll turn up next season.

I understand the point you are trying to make regarding Blackwell and the attendances, I just don't think it's possible to say "majority", nor is it possible to quantify the effects on non season ticket holders.

fair enough foxy. I digressed i think from my original point. I stand by that the way SUFC is going about trying to get me to renew. Mccabe won't make any move regarding blackwell, until it starts to hit his pocket. Fortunately for KB, sheff utd have a large section of very loyal supporters who will turn up every week. Therefore the attendences may only drop by 1 or 2 thousand next season.

Look at Bunrely for example, They had nearly 20k season ticket holders this season, so far only 8thousand have renewed. That is a large contributing factor as to why Laws will be sacked. Football chairman are businessmen at the end of the day and won't change anything until it starts affecting their finances.

So have you written to McCabe/Birch to say you are not renewing and why??

The only way gates will only drop by one or two thousand is if we're top all season or arrange a local derby first match of the season, play Leeds on Boxing Day and have a big game last day of the season.
Chances of our board insisting on the latter are, sadly, small.
This year's bizarre explanation that we didn't want to be at home on St Leger Day was, like a lot of explanations this season, pathetic.
