leading on from the first game thread ,which is your favourite game
the one you enjoyed the most and what are the reasons for this ?

i think mine is the season opener v man united when brian deane scored the first premier league goal in front of a packed lane ,the press gave us no chance and all the talk was of paul ince and how he was going to be a massive influence on their title ambitions

united didnt read the script and even the mancs sat around me on the south stand admitted they deserved nothing from the game

loved being a blade then love being a blade now

onwards and upwards my my fellow pain sharing united enthusiasts

V Oxford first round of FA cup 2011. We had just come off the back of an embarassing home defeat to Bradford in this shitty jpp cup or something they used to do. Anuyway, we had this player called Evans who everyone thought was shit but he was awesome that day and bagged a brace.

Southend away towards the end of the season 1984 I think ,last minute winner from Kevin Arnott and we knew we were going up followed by the best weekend ever in London.Preceded by a banging night in Canvey Island.

Leicester City away, last day of season , has to be
not often we win by 3 wednesday lose by 3 and we exchange league status#

the sheer belief we had, even after falling behind that nothing could stop us and to be 4-1 up at half time helped a bit

the loud yellow shirts , the fancy dress , the euphoria, and Bassett stripped to his under crackers
just shades the 5-1 home win over Cardiff in 72ish

are you american ?

Got to be Leicester away, found myself in the home end and hugged total strangers each and every time we scored. Oh and saw Russ Abbot filling his Bentley up on the way home.

Leicester away 1989 for me.

Not far behind was 3-1 away at Hillsborough when Dane scored first and Bobby D scored a brace and we should have beaten a good Wednesday team on their own turf by 4 or 5.

Outside of the obvious choices of either beating pigs or games that meant something specific e.g. a promotion, then the 5:4 Home win against Brighton is still etched in the memory.

1970 - 71 against Ipswich at the Lane. Most euphoric I've ever felt as a Blade. Although the Cardiff match was close.

v Coventry at home FA cup quarter-final replay when Coventry were fairly good. Won on pens. Alan Kelly chaired off by Blades invasion at the end after penalty saves.
(Away match was good crack also. Marcello equalised and threw his shirt into where we were in the corner of the ground and he had a replacement shirt underneath!)

i didnt go to any of the games mentioned above ,what a part timer i must seem
favoureite game listening on the radio was definetly leicester i didnt sleep for 2 days before hand

Impossible to be happier than seeing a 3-1 win at Hillsboro and a double, but Leicester, Forest, Hull 3-2 win and Liverpool home semi all close behind for me.

Liverpool at home under Bassett. I thought the first division was something I'd never see again and the 70's would be my only memory of it.

What a feeling walking up onto the John St terrace that day. How pround I was of SUFC. I think the quick rise through the leagues made it special.

I've been going since 1962, seen World Cup, European Cup Final (Liverpool v Moenchengladbach) etc. etc. and the 2003 game v Forest eclipses them all. The ebb and flow, the crowd, the atmosphere (the air above the ground literally was crackling - true!)

Watch Peschisolido's goal - nine touches from controlling it to putting it in (and better than the Messi goal a few months ago.)

Better quality (but no sound)

Just reading some of the comments accompanying these vids. makes me shiver...

The same for me, possible addition of Brighton (H) 5 - 4.

The game at the Sty - wow - never has 15 years of frustration been so unexpectedly and joyfully wiped out - with the added pleasure of giving it large sat amongst a sea of snort beasts in the North Stand. What a night.

If pushed, it has to be Leicester. Sheffield football's fortunes reversed in 90 minutes, with a pleasurable few of those making my TV debut on the pitch.....:)

Were you in Rome Grafik ??

Leicester last game of season. Bobby Davisons derby 3.1, forest playoff or the Leeds cup game when Jags scored

Yes, Raul. Part of an epic month-long Interail round Europe. Through France to Spain (Saw Barcelona), Portugal (Went to Stadium of Light for a friendly), round to South of France for Monaco GP, then down to Rome. Split up with my travelling buddy Rob in Rome. He was off to Amsterdam and I went up to Norway to work on a farm.

The seat I now have in South Stand - about 5 seats away ... from Rob!

Derby away, Promotion season.

It fell on the same day as a good mate's birthday so we ended up all going on a jolly to Derby for the match.

Met at 9 bells in the Bankers Draft, which might usually be considered to be a bit on the early side, especially so considering it was a night match. Ended up having a lost day on the ale, only thing i can remember from the match is Akinbiyi scoring.

Just an all round excellent day, i was 28, plenty of money on the hip, no bird, and we was all just players at the time, all playing the game, living for the moment, getting in to scrapes and really testing how much we could get away with.

Looking back at the Promotion season i think i missed about 8 games home and away all season, saw the vast majority of the games hammered, and absolutely loved being a Blade.

Thought there would only be me on here who was there, small world.

Well if it is games you have attended then probably the evening game in 1971 when there were over 40,000 at the Lane to see us turn over and stuff the mighty Leeds. It was absolutely electric. Always remember the chant of "What's it like to be inside Jackie Charlton", don't know what for, a booking or something. Just awesome. Think there was a bit of aggro on the Kop. I was in the paddock of the old John Street stand then, pavillion still there and white picket fencing. Oh the nostalgia (and I'm only 53).

The way United started that season was just heaven, absolutely superb. Beating Arsenal, Everton and Leeds. Would be like getting promoted to the Prem and turning over Citeh away, Man Ure 3-0 at home then Chelski 1-0 away. Playing in red & white sensible shirts, old crest, black shorts no fancy logos or stripes, white socks and top of the league. It made you proud to be a blade and how often can yer say that?

Magic.

I have to agree the play off game with Forest was my favorite game.

The win 1-0 over Arsenal the other year and the 3-1 win against Wendy are a close second.

a game I've attended would be Cardiff away the season we went to the play-off final in '09. Something about that day was really enjoyable and the 3-1 score line helped.
