FAO Those who leave games early

The only time we played West Ham in the 80s At their place we got hammered. Silent Blade ?
Yes in the FA Cup. Maybe Greasy Chip Butty is thinking of the 1-1 draw that was on a Saturday afternoon in December 1991? Gayle got sent off. Deane headed in a Lttlejohn cross in the 80th minute and then the Hammers were awarded a late penalty and no one knew the reason apart from the ref. Julian Dicks smashed in the penalty.

It pisses me off but purely because I have to stand up and sit down to let people by about 10 times in 5 minutes. Their desire to gain 100 yards in traffic upsets the viewing pleasure of the *ahem* real fans ;)

If people want to leave early for their own personal reasons, then let them leave. They've paid for the ticket, what business is it of anyone else's?
I sometimes leave early, to miss the traffic, as I have over an hours journey home. But it depends on how the match is going, a bomb scare wouldn't have made me leave early today, but I won't condemn those who did, perhaps they've learnt a valuable lesson in judgement?

But while we're on the subject, how come those who head to the concourse ten minutes before half time and come back five minutes after, get a free ride when ever this subject comes up? What's more, there's a lot of United 'fans' who don't even fucking turn up in the first place........just saying ;)
Special rules when it's alcohol related.
Beans on toast at 5pm... wrong.
Alcohol at 335pm...ok.
Apparently.

I'm at the back of the Kop, and people up there are leaving on 88 minutes.

What the fuck is that all about?

I might expect it from people with free tickets in BLUT, but them? Right in amongst where all the noise and support should be, we have pathetic cunts like these leaving with 6 minutes to go.

It sums things up. The crowd were flat today and these fuckers epitomise why it is the way it is.

The areas where vocal support should come from are infested with droves of random passionless twats who shouldn't be there.
Atmosphere was really poor today just like it has been for the past 12 months.

I know a lot of people get touchy when you criticise our support but the lack of atmosphere and vocal backing in the championship compared to when we were in league one is bizarre to me. Makes no sense.

Not quite sure what has happened to be honest.

I stagger up the Kop 10 minutes in, go for a piss on 20, queue for a pint at 37, stagger back up on 55, another piss on 70, leave on 84. I can't believe how many 0-0 draws we have.

Bashar Al Asaba will hunt you down, and rightly kill you. I will drive the getaway car.

We've won again.......

No free ride from me, I hate those twats too. It's a real bug bear of mine and one of the main reasons that I moved from the Kop up to the Westfield Corner. 10 minutes into each half I had people turning up, trying to get to their seats and blocking my view of the pitch by hanging around on the fucking steps. 10 minutes before half time doing the same and then leaving 5 minutes early at the end! Literally 35 minutes of the game that I'm up and down like a jack in the box because these pricks can't make it through 90 minutes without a beer / pie and heavens forbid can't queue for anything or turn up to the game on time. Twats. Ended up purposely choosing a new seat that has no access to other seats and no one in front to block my view!

I may be turning into a Victor Meldrew type grumpy bastard in my old age but I'd glad those pricks missed the winning goal today.

I fucking loved it.

I always leave my back row seat when the added time goes up.But I move (along with my 3 kids) to somewhere near the front so it's quicker to get out but unless we are 3 down (can't remember last time that happened) I stay till final whistle.

If we exclude the games when weve been 3 or 4-0 down & i think im about to get frostbite as i havent felt my toes for 30mins. :p

Then i have only gone before the end in 1 game & i was forced to go otherwise i wouldve have had a lift home. & it was the James beattie last min sheff derby free kick. You can imagine i was less than pleased when i heard roar. Ive never left early & 90% of the time under wilder stayed to show my appreciation. Even when in last 2 games ive had a 4yr & 3yr old

I would rather be in huge traffic & get home half an hour later & see scenes like today. Every single time

But but but, they made it home in good time.

Because, that's what matters right?

Set of tosspots.

Turned to my mate and said there's a goal in this when there were a few leaving around us in the Westfield....

AFTER 83 MINS!!!

I'm an Arsenal fan as well as a blades fan. In 2001 I left Old Trafford after 37 mins when they scored the FIFTH goal against us (result: 6-1). Had to ask the security guy to open the doors to let me out as they were locked. He fucking loved it

That was a one off though to be fair for football.

Only other game I've left early is for Fremantle Dockers here in Perth. The queue for trains at our new stadium (Optus stadium, for anyone interested) can be a bitch, and we were getting battered, so we left before the end. Got home just in time to not piss myself, so it was a good call in the end.

That ends this sinful tail.

Thought you Said you didn't piss yourself?

Yeah we’ve had this topic before and you’ll get some lies in response to it for sure. There’ll be stories of having to leave early for work or to catch public transport. The truth is the majority of these fans had mentally given up on the team. That’s why they left early, no other reason whatsoever.

And that’s fine btw - just admit it that’s all, rather than lying about it.

I rarely leave early myself, but I can think of one match in the last 40 years when I did, and that was the semi final play off v Swindon away. When we went two goals behind with 10 mins to go I was so disappointed I just thought...that’s it - season over. And left the ground to get an early start on my drive from there into London. I wish I hadn’t afterwards, even though we still lost.

Don’t think I’ve done it before or since. And certainly didn’t do it today. I didn’t think we’d get a winner but I wanted to stay till the end and applaud that effort.
Left early once, away at Crewe early February 2014. We were losing 3-0 under Clough, going bottom of the table and the wind and hail was ripping the skin off my face....we had to catch 3 trains to get home so in about the 79/80th minute we decided enough was enough.....still felt guilty though :(

We too have over an hour's journey to games, which is the very reason we don't leave before the end of the game. If you've travelled all that way, I at least want to see all the action.

That was an awful experience. The team deserved all of us to leave early.

I know it shouldn't bother me but..... why?

Can anyone please explain it to me?

Chuffed with the win and hope that it stops this happening

Another one for the recurring threads thread. You pays your money you takes your choice. Don’t see why some get all angry about it. Perhaps it makes these people lesser blades. Then again I remember leaving a game at half time because it was so shit and getting an extra 2 pints in while we lost at home in yet another abject performance. I felt better about it than those who rocked up an hour later all angry about it.

I'm not one to leave early but I did for a few matches during the Adkins season, in fact half of the Home matches in the latter half of that season I didn't even bother turning up at all!

We all knew we weren't going anywhere that season and that a mid table finish was where we were likely to end up which is exactly what happened.

I'm sure I can be forgiven for that soul destroying season!
