Once the Robson contracts have all expired we will be in a much better position to move forward and judge the managers performance against his peers on a more level playing field.

The Robson contracts, sanctioned by McCabe, of course. Who is actually left? Naysmith and Speed???

>Because Doncaster are really pulling up the trees are'nt they?
well at least they are watchable.. at the end of the season they will end up mid table. we will reach the playoffs and lose again to a decent footballing outfit who will outplay us on the day on the massive pitch that doesn't suit our style and tactics.. so next year they will be in exactly the same place as us

>You can't sack a manager in 6th/7th position
middlesboro did. ok they are in transition atm but their chairman was smart enough to see that attendances were in freefall and he needed to rectify this.. bolton have done the same thing.. kevin m take note

There is also a strong rumour now about Wardy and Harper both wanting out at the end of the season.

While I would agree that normally this is just used as a stick to hit over the managers head I know the person who posted it and who he knows at the club. Although players are like kids and fall out with the manager when they don't get their own way, this would seem to be a big potential issue. Harpers issue apparently is solely down to the long ball tactics and poor training methods.
Another believe it or not tale.

Got some decent gossip from the inside, Ward - yes, Harper - no.

Never going to convince anyone but I'm 99% sure about the Ward story and where is has come from. I have next to no doubt it is on the money.

The Harper story isn't from someone I know directly so I'm not giving it too much weight.

You can't sack a manager in 6th/7th position

the point is that we can't afford to sack the manager. After tricky trevor's comments we can see that: a) we can't afford to get rid of KB and b) he thinks that he is doing a good job.

Blackwell is here to stay (unfortunately).

I'd change manager now. I think it would be a disaster anyway if we sneaked promotion via the play offs this season, not least because we would HAVE to spend all of the PL money on fees & wages, apart from that which would be needed to finance our debt, to probably still come straight back down again, with a squad full of players whose remaining contracts would eat up the parachute payments and again stifle the progress of the youngsters. If we were going up with a strong, decent sized squad that had played together for a while all of whom are under contract for at least another couple of years, and with just a handful of new signings needed, it would be a different story, but the rebuilding job as it stands would be immense, prohibitively expensive, and could actually worsen our current position.

I'd start the rebuilding job now, bringing in somebody who will start blooding the youngsters straight away, rather than wait to the end of the season & waste the next few months.

As for who to bring in - Paul Hart has a fantastic reputation for working with young players over many years - I would give the manager's job to Speed, with Hart as Director of Football.

You can't sack a manager who is still able to achieve the aims laid out at the start of the season.
Do you really think a decent manager would come knowing we booted someone out because they dropped outside the top 6 for a week?
They don't know how we have been playing all year they just think that as soon as they need support from the board they will be out.

I think that someone like Birch could actually get a resignation out of him and will do in the summer.
Blackwell has proven by jacking it in after the playoff final that he lacks the self belief if pushed. I would also say his formations and safety first approach also back this up he doesn't back himself or his players to beat the opposition. We have to play it safe first and then try and nick a couple of goals.

If put in a pressure situation at the end of the season in a 1 to 1 meeting with Bitch, where he has to make his case for staying. Being pushed on how he is going to do it, considering his failure given one of the highest wage budgets in the league.
I think you would have him shaking like a shitting dog.
