Well while we all have our own ideas about what kind of players are important to a team, managers tend to differ.
He was first choice for at least 6 of our former managers over a period of ten years despite all the criticism by some,
I would say he was the Basham of his day, for all the moans by the purists about his skills on the ball, managers thought his enthusiasm an integral part of their team.....
 



There is a right way. Professionals, including our own manager, refer to it constantly. Only stupid, boorish, parochial, S2 hoofers think otherwise. Even when proper football is explained to them, they stick to their guns, or whatever passed for guns in the Neanderthal period. Clubs, I suppose.

Even if one discounts the direct approach and out and put hoof, I don't think one can fail to appreciate the differing styles of passing football, from slow and steady passing, looking for an opening in the opposition defence to bang at it high press rock and roll football.
Surely you are able to differentiate between the football of Van Gaal at Man U and Klopp at Liverpool?
