surprised no one has mentioned Gus Poyet.

Lok at the job he has done with very little money at Brighton.

just a thought.

Onto a good thing at Brighton. Why would he want to come? I'd expect they'd want a lot to let him go too.

Di Matteo would be my choice but as we are saying it's a 'No' (better offers, too much £) I agree with a lot of the guys mentioned in this thread ala Hill etc. but Morgs? Great captain, great servant to the club, would be a great coach...but manager? Thought we were after some football, not more hoof?

I also, despite not and never being a fan of Micky (I have got behind him though) think that there is a point to giving him a season with his own players but I don't trust that 'his' players would do a job. It's been pointed out before that more than one season in League 1 is probably going to mean 2-4. And I don't think MA would have us bounce back. (Let's hope I'm eating my words this time next season).

Not suggesting Morgan as a suitable candidate, but why would you automatically assume he would play hoof-it football as a manager?

No ones mentioned Gus Poyet, because his team will be above united next season. What would be the point?

For those wondering about Pembo's lack of experience, it heartening to see that the club at the top of the portuguese league is being managed by a young manager, with no playing experience, and prior to his appointment at the start of this season only half a years m,anagerial experience. Would he have been given a chance in Short-sighted england? probably not.

For every gary speed, there's an Andre Villas Boas

Unless we are able to completely overhaul the squad I don't think there is any manager in the world who could get us promoted back to the championship straight away. And as completely overhauling the squad would probably involve spending money that we haven't got and are unlikely to get, I don't see it happening.

Given Blader's criteria then surely Pembo should be top of the list since we'd not pay compensation. Whilst he's been at the club he's done far more than was expected, achieving success whilst playing quality football. This needs rewarding, so suggesting we leave him where he is will not work, plenty of better offers will be heading his way by the end of this season.

Success does only come with stability, but it also requires the right man in charge - 5 years of a Bryan Robson in charge would wreck any club and take 10 years to put right.

Adams may not be a bad manager, but nothing I have seen so far suggests he is a great one - and that's needed now given the situation at our club. There are very few managers out there I really believe could do the job and even fewer who'd be prepared to come here, but Pembo has at least given me a glimmer of hope that he could be our own special one.

I'd also get rid of Mickey now because the longer time a new manager has to turn this sorry mess around the better, and I'd rather the new manager decides what happens to Collins, Doyle and the rest of the squad, come the end of the season.

Give it to Pembo. The best current club side in the world is coached by someone who's only prior experience was managing barcelona's reserves.

None of it matters until the club has leadership right at the top.
Until that's sorted, the downward spiral will continue whoever is manager.

Too right len. One fully expects McCabe to sell the clubs assets to balance the projected income and expenditure and this is where McCabe follows all the others, the guy is useless as a football club director/owner. He may be able to manage property but this is the leisure business and some. It is a religion (of sorts) and a passion and he fails to grasp reality.

I would concentrate on youth but with say 3 players in the squad/team who are experienced. An experienced defender e.g Morgs, midfielder and striker. I feel we need a McGrath/Spackman type influence to assist the youngsters but then we must keep the youngsters not constantly sell them. Its bonkers. No one it their right mind would come to SUFC because we are a bunch of losers. Never won sweet FA, so build the club up with youngsters who have a passion and can learn as a team. As you progress buy guys in at the right level so you can consistently progress and stabilise in the league above.

If /when we get back to the Championship you need to get promoted with a team that is experienced together with enough players who have played at Prem level because that is the biggest hurdle to bridge.

We have a really good chance now with these youngsters. That is the future and if McCabe attempts to sell them he should be lynched. It is the only way forward given the financial constraints.

Whether Adams can be the leader.... well we'll see.

Yet another change of manager ? Mother of God

Have we learned nothing ? Look at the mess that Pancake Tuesday are in.

Give him a chance with a clean slate, building a new team with a sprinkling of home grown talent thrown in. Difficult to overlook what's happened in the last 20 games but there won't be a more passionate, determined manager next season.
