Watching Coutts strike a ball on that Soccer AM challenge did make me wonder whether he could strike a decent pen?

Not a bad shout to be fair. David Cotterill had never scored a league goal before us till he was put on penalties towards the end of the 2008-09 season, and scored all four he took.

Said when Sharp missed the last pen (v Shrewsbury), when it didn't matter, that him taking penalties would cost us at some point when it did matter. He's cost us at least a point tonight, if not three, with a f***ing shocker of a cop-out penalty. They want some one on 'um who will take some responsibility (perhaps Duffy) and get it hit low, hard and accurate into the bottom corner, instead of Billy's hope for the best punt down the middle.
For the sake of balance Sharp didnt cost us at Gillingham or Scunthorpe when the pressure was on.however it may be time for someone else to have a go.
The issues tonight weren't down to the missed penalty. There was a lack.of pace of good passing and there was a lack of support for the front two from midfield .I thought the game was crying out for 4-4-2 from the start of the second half and Chaan should have been on earlier .

We have been average at best the last 4 games and got 7 points.

It's about time everyone was able to get on his back again.

Nobody should get on his back again WYB, but he certainly deserves criticism for that effort last night, I was praying that he wouldn't take it as I think we have players better suited to that task.

Take yourself off pens, NOW.

Don't be silly. He'll never do that. He's too selfish for a start and to do that would be to admit that his role of goalscoring talisman at the club is under question. Did you see how he had a strop at Bradford when Basham claimed the final touch for that goal? I thought he was going to knock Basham's head off! What a teammate! What a Captain!!!

I'm afraid that Billy will never take himself of penalties - they will have to be taken off him. And that will be like taking a bone from a dog - but it's about time it was done because that's 3 misses now this season - no other player would be allowed to continue with the privilege.

to me from behind the kop it looked like he changed his mind just before hitting it. I think he was in two minds about smashing it down the middle and at the last second tried to place it. Had fuck all power on it

Who steps up? Any of the 11 - it's a lottery, but Sharp's was one of a bloke lacking confidence, that's all. Give him a game or two off and let someone else take the next couple. Who'd be best? We won't know - we aren't in training every day. I'd be surprised if it's Paul "I rarely every shoot" Coutts, though.

Give it Clarke.
