I've missed a few away games recently but went today. Noticed a huge difference in mood of the fans. Volatile atmosphere amongst our own.

My own view now is that this team needs a huge makeover and with plenty of players out of contract in the summer it will mean we have to be patient. I had hoped Adkins would get more out of the squad that clough assembled but they're simply not good enough and he needs time to build his own team. Which I hope he gets.

There is a lot of pain to come. Just hope we all stick together in the stands.

I could have twatted myself listening to the commentary. After we'd equalised I thought to myself "We might go on and win this". Then I thought "Nah, that won't happen". And then I thought "Well, why not?" And then I thought "Because this side doesn't do things like that". And then I thought "Yes but that doesn't mean to say that they can't". And then I thought "Don't be daft. You're just being stupid". And then I thought "Ere, who are you calling stupid? I'll knock your bloody head off if I come over there". And I would have gone on like that all afternoon had Mrs Bon not appeared with a mug of tea and a bun.

Fan disagreements are getting more and more common, especially in a fan base as frustrated as ours.

I've been in my fair share of arguments for merely voicing critique of Adkins' array of unbelievable decisions.

We're all Blades innit. Frustrating I know. Onwards and upwards. Nigel2 has to be the man. Love him.

The good old traditional Blade on Blade fighting might be the most entertaining thing left this season.

just an idea ,have you ever thought about getting behind the team and trying to support them instead of slagging them off at every opportunity. you seem to be that negative i bet you only wear black and white clothes

I thought last week was bad but put that down to the home crowd. At times today it was ridiculous. The away games I've been to previously were Gillingham, Peterborough and Fulham, and at the latter two at least there was an atmosphere throughout. At one stage a group behind me were saying at 1-0 "just score a 2nd so we can go home" – they left about 15 minutes before the end.

The highlight frankly was where a couple of utter bellends tried to start the utterly shit "Follow" chant as the minutes silence set in, only to be defeated by one very loud gentlemen yelling "fookin disgrace!", which silenced the group immediately and left the rest us us in an awkward position of respecting the minute's silence while trying to surprise a big grin...

Have been to a few aways this season and the mood away from home can change dramatically. There often appears to be a "let's put in the minimum effort required" thought amongst the players and the fans pick up on it very quickly. Some games have been there for the taking but for whatever reason the players just haven't been busting a gut to take them. Burton and Oldham are just 2 that spring to mind. A lack of quality is one thing but blades fans are no mugs when it comes down to a lack of effort. The effort only truly appears to be there when we have gone behind in games

That was clearly heard on Radio Pig and they apologised for it without saying if it was Utd or walsall fans.

The general atmosphere at away games amongst our fans is the worst I can recall in 35 years of away trips. I don't enjoy away games like I used to. Too many pissed up lads who are just as happy to cause aggro with our own fans. It never used to be like that. Blades always stuck together, not anymore. Hardly missed a game home or away for years, have watched a lot of dross on the pitch, but it's the atmosphere in the away end that's really making me question if this is how I want to spend my Saturday's....

A really good summary. Especially of yesterday which was horribly ugly.

Results will turn it around. Till then it's either don't go, try to get tickets for a home area, or wait it out. And it could be a long wait.

I hope nobody pissed you off and shouted Vive Le France

I bet your trips to M and S to choose a shirt are fun

Sadly I agree. Not been away this year but found last year the day out was far bettert than the game and not just for the performance. So many arguments on the terraces and people often so drunk they did not even know what was going on (know that may be a good thing!). The last few away games I have been to there has been some real knobbish behaviour in and around grounds and I have been quite embarrased to be stood/sat with some Blades (minority that sadly is growing) with some ridiculously racist, moronic chants and negativity even worse than mine. I know its bad but I dont need telling every 10 seconds.

I went to Manchester yesterday with the family (ended up on the Coronation St tour) and had a lovely meal and walked around the Xmas market there enjoying a few warm alcoholic drinks. Had a lovely time and sadly did not give SUFC a thought again till getting a few messages on the train on the way home. I saw some going when we left Sheffield getting the Birmingham train with crates of carling and were shouting nonsense at 9am and actually was delighted to be going on a different train. Fits in with the apathy I felt for a while now. Do hope to get to odd away game post Xmas but not interested at the moment and that is quite sad.

Perhaps your second choice wouldn't be any better next week. :)

I'm still going out of loyalty alone, and yes it's very intimidating on away days because the players aren't turning up, but the fans are.

I think it is an indictment of society now, in general. As someone who goes to probably 70% of away games, there are times when I absolutely hate some of our fans. It is a small minority, I should stress, but the levels of chavvery that I have seen this season are sometimes off the scale. It is mostly boys aged between 16-24, dressed in a certain manner, and drinking a certain brand of lager, behaving like cretins.

That said, the vast majority of the support is excellent, but there is a feeling amongst all the fans that I speak to on away days, that everyone is just fed up and pissed off with this team, and of course this is amplified by the behaviour of the minority.

You see these kinds of people on the streets almost every day, behaving badly, trying to act hard and being generally obnoxious. Of course, some of them will be football fans, and will transfer that kind of behaviour to the terraces.

In other words this, season is,at best a write off, with a danger of an actual relegation scrap come January.

I see you some Saturday's at half time and we have a good old moan under the stand it's the time and play to do it. Not during match imo.

The way the Blades can shut these so called morons up is by putting a shift in on match day

I've witnessed worse, or the same.

The atmosphere in the home end at the play final against Huddersfield was as bad as I've witnessed.
