I don't think there's anyone who'll disagree that yesterday was an archetypal Blades performance of recent times - triumph over adversity and players who look like they want to die for the cause (and Chris Morgan getting sent off, but that's by the by :D)

Now, we've had some Spurs fans up this week who visit conferences every now and again... and who just love to wind up the CF@W*. When we asked why exactly he was a Chelsea fan, coming from High Wycombe and now living in Chesterfield, he said he wanted to watch a successful club. "Glory hunter then?" we asked. He got mardies on and ran away.

When he did eventually come back, he'd had chance to think about it. He said he wanted to watch attractive football. The Spurs fans pissed themselves at the thought of the "attractive football" tag being given to Chelsea.

This got me thinking... what would I prefer to see? Attractive football played by multi-millionaires who baulk at being offered the measly sum of £50k a week wages? Players who feel it is perfectly acceptable to slag their manager in the press and not expect any comeback because they feel the team couldn't operate without them?

Or rough and passionate football... played by mostly English players who seemingly have some loyalty to their club and an affinity with the fans? Teams who aren't afraid of anyone and will give any team a run for their money.

Thinking back to the most exciting match I've seen and probably the best match a number of people have seen in recent years... the Forest Play-off Semi... it was no real feast of football. But the players... Blades especially, looked ready to lay down for the cause. None of this heads down business.

The point of this is... what would you prefer to see at Bramall Lane? BR tried to bring fancy stuff to the Lane, and with time, and a squad of his own players, it could have possibly worked. KB has reverted back to the "never say die" ethos of old with a team of old pros and youngsters with a point to prove. Whilst it's worked so far, could it really sustain a Premiership bid?

What do you think?

Wouldn't both be the ultimate? We all love to see the tricks in football don't we? But if I was forced to chose, I'd much prefer a passionate team to fight for them 3 points.

while the fancy stuff is nice to watch, i also like watching players but their all into the game, always wanting the ball chancing it, never knowing when they've lost, never giving up.

To quote from blackwell "Hard work beats talent if talent doesnt work hard" or something along them lines.

Needless to say i love the blades never say die attitude, i believe that's what Sheffield United is all about, so you can keep all your fancy football and tricks.

I rather see passion and fight to win games because thats what where used to supporting united (apart from three quaters of this season). Its always nice to see fancy and attractive, attacking football but Robson tried to make us play that way and it didnt work out.

So I'd much rather see my team with passion than tricks.

fancy football bores me at times, too much prancing round like fairy's like ronaldo.

I love to see battle in the game from the players. Slide tackles flying in, a good shoulder barge and getting on with the game not getting booked.

SHame dont see too much of the latter lately! not like it used to be in SF's day :D

Fight over flair anyday. It's possible to have a side that can do both but the attitude of the teams who rely on flair is poor. And also the teams who use flair over fight are the ones constantly sucked up to by the media just because they get all wet when they see Ronaldo's stupid greasy hair, crybaby antics and showboating.

I think Ronaldo is the best player in the world.

I'd love to see him in our team.

Oh well.

Who would you rather have playing for us? Players like Neil Ruddock and their ilk, or Cristiano Ronaldo?
Who would you rather have back at BDTBL? Vinnie Jones at his best, which wasn't as bad as people make out, or Tony Currie, showing off and blowing kisses as he weaved his magic?
SF thinks that Ronaldo is the best player in the world, and he's right. If we could afford the best flair players in the world, wouldn't you want them to play for us?
We certainly appreciate players who battle - Sir Bob Booker is the classic example - but it would be a duller place without the flair and imagination. Saunders' cheeky throw in, anybody?

Shame on you SV comparing vinnie jones to TC!

Shame.

still, mentioned in the same sentence.

Shame!

:D

Go for flair.

Man United have the right balance as it currently lies.

They have their flair players in Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, Tevez and Rooney to an extent.

They also have the Carrick, Hargreaves, Ferdinands and Vidic's.
