Fan Advisory Board

If this is the idea of the so called Fan Advisory Board they dont represent me or any Blade that I know
Who the fuck are they ? I didnt vote for them ? Did we even get a vote
I would guess they are a bunch of yes men / women that are happy to go along with whatever the club likes
Show me an instance where they have spoken up for the REAL fans or even made a difference
RANT OVER
Again... How would a vote even work? Who would be allowed to vote? Season Ticket holders? Anyone on the database? How would the vote be taken? Polling stations? Online? Mail in? Would we need an independent voting audit company? That all sounds a bit cumbersome & expensive for a simple little advisory board.

No, there wasn't a vote...

At least we get the chance to vote for twats like Starmer, Farage, Polanski, davey etc.

Anybody who puts lyrics up, most certsinly doesn't represent me.
You’re making an assumption they’ve asked for this. Could it be the club have asked them to gather opinions, as it’s something the club wants to do? Seems plausible given the tweet says “The club are putting are putting chant lyrics…”. I can’t see any mention that this is something the FAB asked for.

As has been noted before in this thread, you could have applied to have been on the FAB yourself if you had such strong feelings about it.

This is very, very bad. Must be the club wanting it and the advisory board just going along with it so not to upset them. No united fan could possibly want this.

Makes sense, it seems like something the Americans would think is a good idea.

It isn’t

I’d agree.

If the FAB are providing checks and balances against some of the boards dafter ideas then great.

But if they’re just going to be a rubber stamp that’s not so good.

As for applying, it wouldn’t be for me. I have some experience of being involved in different groups in the past (non football) and they usually go the same way. One or two dominant voices get their own way and it turns into a big pissing contest

Thanks,

Pray tell when and where one could have applied, and how this was publicised?

I don’t think this idea is as bad as it perhaps sounds at first. They already flash up a few lyrics on the advertising hoardings at the moment…”we are Bladesmen” etc.

Wouldn’t have thought it’s going to be the equivalent of a church hymn book. I see this kind of thing at a lot of other grounds when we play away.

It’s a bit like the flags etc, adds a bit of colour, sense of occasion etc.

Probably good for young kids too who wonder what everyone is singing.

The comments re FAB remind me a lot of the way people talk about the trade union committee at work.

When big disputes come round everybody has an opinion and reckons they could do it better, when the rest of the time they are crying out for volunteers and interaction from the membership.

Apparently most of the FAB members didn't know anything about this. Ladies and gentlemen, we've got a conspiracy on our hands

This is as desperate an idea as the 'statue' idea on another thread.

Simply desperate, and mirrors the farce of a club we've become in recent years.

The ice hockey is a much better day out these days tbf.
Oh I agree, I love the ice hockey.

I also love ice cream. Doesn’t mean I’d love it on my balti pie…

I suppose my point is whilst certain fripperies might not take anything from the game, they don’t add to it either. It’s a quick win approach that doesn’t actually win anything.

For me what matters more? Are the team winning, or at least looking like they give a shit, and it would be nice if there were decent scran options in the ground. Anyone who has watched sports in the US will tell you the options are vastly superior.

Maybe I’m too much in man shouts at cloud mode mate, just how I feel.

Kids going to school on a Monday morning singing about shagging your birds and drinking your beer would be absolutely hilarious though.

Do you know what? I’m in…

Just for context, that Instagram account has a huge... 220 followers. Twitter account has 1800 followers, (and from the comments most of them are pigs...)

CrookesBlade, in theory I think your right. I can imagine a meeting and people going it helps new fans etc. Its not a bad idea to discuss round a table.

In reality though, there are not loads of songs without swear words and whilst I don't mind lyrics to songs being used as text to promote the club, having a 30,000 person karaoke booth just doesn't work.

The advisory board will be made up of fans (who else would do it) they will be a diverse range of people to reflect the fan base.

Maybe they have been told its happening and they are trying to make the best of it, I just don't think football fans like being told what to sing.

All together now...

We don't want lyrics on LED
We just want brooks and Seriki
And with Callum o'hare
We'll fill up the air
With united

I’d quite like to see Sugg’s Sport make a return to the side of the pitch.

Be nice to see what the boards actual opinions on this are. You’d like to think at least one of them suggested this may not go down that well with a lot of the fanbase.

I think it’s a great idea and will truly cement our place as a forward thinking, long term planning, serious football club..

…anyone who thinks that this is a cringe worthy, tacky, tone deaf idea really must be in the cesspit of hating United… shame on you.

Not a big fan myself but I was pleasantly surprised how good a day out it was vis a vis the football when taking my niece.

I agree on the lyrics thing. Isn't it just another sign of how dull and sanitised football has become? Beige as fuck. We're no different. Is it cost, demographics, gentrification, changing attitudes in society. Something else. An amalgam. Who knows?

On the other hand I've come full circle on football (in some respects). On what we should expect for our £. I think United fans are very easily pleased. Nobody cares when we win how good the overall experience is but we should. At circa £30-45 a ticket it isn't good enough compared to other options. Make it cheap as chips again and I'm not as bothered. At least we have the fan zone now which is something...

* The batshit "economics" of football that helps necessitate those prices are admittedly another conversation.

Pretty easy to organise a vote of ST Holders I would have thought these days with all the technology about
