I think Rotherham’s own Rebecca Taylor AKA Self Esteem said it best: “You’re beautiful and I want the best for you, but I also hope you fail without me”. Should we get this going when he returns to the Lane?

According to the all expert Blades fans (the vocal minority) he's a wank manager. So, that's Man U knocked out at Old Trafford and on form Spurs knocked out in this round, reyt wank manager.

Tufty, hope you take Boro all way to the FA Cup final and win it, but lose next Tuesday and again on your date with destiny at the end of May. UTB.

Jealous of the time the Boro fans are having with Wilder as their boss.
I go back 60 years as a Blade and those years under Wilder were some of the best.
Proud of him tonight. He’s still one of our own.
Hope he loses next Tuesday though.
It's hardly an on form spurs they had lost 4 of the last 5 and now 5 of the last 6, only victory being a comfortable 4-0 at Leeds who themselves are in horrendous form, still a great result for Boro , but spurs are currently troubled

Won 2 of their last 3, hammered dirty Leeds at Bellend Road (always to be roundly applauded for that) and won 3-2 at Champions elect City.

Still don't get why he didn't stay.

He's ended up at what I would argue is a smaller club, certainly in terms of this season's support.

Their squad isn't as good as ours.

He'll have similar size and similar restrictions even if they go up.

Can't have been fun losing every week, but none of his PL signings came off.

He was all for not risking the club financially which I'm not sure he didn't do given some of the deals and their current value.

You look at how we've done with Hecky. Then you look how poor we were under Slav. He'd have been pushing top two if he'd not been so either unrealistic in the backing he expected or proud to be resigning when the club needed him to stick around (whether the eventual outcome was mutual, he still made 3 attempts to quit).

I think as he gets older and matures more he'll realise what a fool he was for giving that all up; supporting your boyhood club, at the first time there was a bump in the road.

Michael Flynn was manager of Newport county when they knocked out Leicester City in 2019.

What's ya point..?

And after that? Let the bitterness go. Great manager for whom it went sour with us, for whatever reason. He's turned Boros fortunes around in a relatively short period. They looked decent last night, passionate, high tempo football. An enjoyable watch. If Hecky picks his strongest team next Tuesday it'll be a great game.

I never understood it either, we are not a massive club in terms of the PL it’s always going to be difficult to stay up and establish ourselves, he did get a chunk of money to spend
I accept the academy needed an upgrade but it appeared we spent the money on players and wages
Did he get too big for his boots in the end

He was a fantastic manager and we enjoyed some of the best Football I’ve ever seen at BL, during his tenure.

I believe if he’d really wanted to stay he could have done, but he and his agent negotiated a generous release package and his personal wealth was always more appealing to him than his much lauded deep seated lifelong love for the club?

Which is fair enough, but that’s not the route to ‘club legend’ status, in my opinion 🤔

When people talk shit about his payout, they never mention it in relation to his actual wage, which would've been huge.

It's not as if taking the payout and being unemployed for a year was more financially beneficial than staying with us and taking the payout when he got sacked.

He'll also have relinquished some or all of the remaining payout when he took the Boro job.

Form is usually judged on a minimum of 6 games.

Spurs current form is: LLWLWL

If United had that form, we would be a bit unhappy

Last night went to extra time a week before playing us and causes Boro extra games. For those reasons alone, I'm happy with the result.

I watched the game wanting Middlesborough to have to play extra time and to win as it gives them another fixture and puts more demands on their squad. Middlesborough were Sheffield United premier season 2 light. Looked ok unless they actually tried to progress the ball and not merely play it sideways. Got a good goal through a very good shot but those only go in 20% of the time and they created fuck all all night. Spurs like to break and I have seen them struggle all season when teams just sit back like Middlesborough did last night

Still hurts we lost him tbh. I think with Wilder lite in Hecky we can see we'd likely be better off if we kept Wilder all season.

Middleborough are very lucky to have him.

of course i want to batter him next tuesday

but its almost like Chris Wilder still a good manager, who know & its almost as if 1 bad year doesnt ruin what was 7 years of exceeding expectations. if the prince & wilder could stand to be in the same room as each other & dont hate each others guts. we would be up in that top 2
