Where to booze please? Been a while!
Ok.
Nearest pub is the Plas Coch a 2 minute walk and away fan friendly

The Maesgwyn across the road from the ground is a busy place. Outside bars and a great atmosphere.

The Turf. Absolute chocka on a Matchday,

Wrexham lager club. Fee on door,

Into town centre.
First pub you’ll see is a huge ‘spoons, away fans do go there but the stone island crew needn’t bother.

Hill Street Social, a 3 floor sports bar, very popular and welcoming

Wxm High street.
Far too many pubs and bars to list but pick of the bunch would be
The Fat Boar (great food and owned by ex footballer Barry Horne)
Wrexham Cwtch a cavernous bar with lots of screens showing sports
The Ironworks another multi floor bar with a great choice of beers and loads of screens
The Royal Oak - real ale heaven

Welcome, but this is a worrying idea 🙂

Gives me shudders and reminds me of Norwich away, FA cup 5th round, circa 1989 - with Ripley based Blades, a good few on leave from the forces, in the back of some social club I think wall to wall blades, not enough bogs - ended with lads drinking pints of piss for bets, giggles and no doubt shits later. Never seen it before, or thankfully since

Hiya pal. Best place to park? Decent pub for a beer too? Thanks in advance matey
Depending what time you get here, you can actually park for free on crispin lane ( the road that runs behind the Kop end. Failing that the adjacent university has ample parking spaces for a small fee. Don’t park in the nearby B&Q, Sainsbury’s, TKMaxx retail parks. There’s a 2 hour limit. The Plas Coch pub has a decent sized car park, not sure if they charge but they do food and is perfectly placed for a quick getaway post match.

You can book a space at B&Q and it sounds as though it's easy to get away afterwards. £2-75 seemed quite reasonable to me. Cancellable if I don't get a ticket as well.

I didn't mind the documentary but you do sense there is a rising cockiness amongst their fan base. I can well imagine the rest of the Conference being irritated by them knowing they aren't going to struggle making ends meet like the rest.

We are the least likely team to give it the big 'un yet you see things on Twitter and it does make you stop and think they've got a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

I'm kind of hoping we go there, give them an absolute lesson to be honest. Send a strong team, possibly pair Billy and Jebbo and give them a good going over worthy of a team 72 places above them!I
It would seem we’re not a big enough club to wet their whistle.

You cant blame them though they were about to lose their ground just before the Hollywood pair took over. They had something like 10+ years of bad management. We know a bit about that.

Re: FA Cup draw WREXHAM v Sheffield United

Not the best draw we could of got tbf, the smaller club in Steeltown , for huge city their support is only good if doing okay, which they are at mo otherwise bang average, squad depth not great, if they rest 5 players we will do em at home..horrible club whose Risk supporters don't like us either it seems after being humiliated in Portugal according to a few fans chat columns !!

Looks like some of them have had a strong dose of wendyitis !!

Not quite right. Prior to the Hollywood takeover the club was ran by the supporters. Wrexham Supporters Trust. WST. They, we made mistakes but the club was ran sustainably for best part of 10 years, clearing the existing debt left by our previous owners who did sell the ground, the training facility and land attached to the stadium where they built a couple of blocks of the student village and rode off into the sunset with a nice big payoff. Twats. This despite their promises of ploughing money made from the student village being ploughed back into the club.

So to summarise, the Hollywood owners saw a well run sustainable club with potential.

I can smell pork as well in that message. PitsmoorPig gets everywhere

I went to the Notts County v Wrexham match January 2022 and the away fans were chanting “ we’re f*****g rich we’re f*****g rich we’re f******g rich “ ! ( asterisks not included). Modest they ain’t

Watched the documentary very interesting for a national league they are spending a lot

It seems the club was run sustainably but perhaps with not sufficient capital to sustain a promotion push. I.e. you were not going to the wall but by the same token you also were not threatening going up. You also seem to have relied on work that would usually be paid, being done through goodwill. E.g. the guy from the documentary who works for Kelloggs but was also acting CEO or Finance Director. Fair play to him 👏

In come Ryan and Rob and that heightens the ambitions.

Are some of your fans getting a bit carried away with it? Or is that merely a reaction to seeing light at the end of the tunnel and a chance to move up?

The Blades are a well grounded club. There are no heirs and graces here and hard work and humility are what most fans associate with us, rather than the opposite side of the City who seem to believe the top flight craves their return and any division they are in will part like the Red Sea for them.

There will be no giving it large though despite your good home record we will be favorites even with a little rotation.

A lot of our fan base are getting carried away by it. Proper starstruck. But there’s a quiet minority/majority who are sleeping with one eye open. Things behind the scenes are far from perfect. The ceo is by all accounts a bitch. A number of employees have left good positions at the club because of her.

for the record, weve reached the playoffs 4 times since being in this division. Failed every time. We also missed out on the title to a Jamie Vardy inspired Fleetwood despite finishing second with 98 points. Brutal.

If you're wishing to trade stories of play off woes then you've come to the right place!

For your Jamie Vardy, we have David Hopkin in the last minute at Wembley.

To quote the Athletic:

Sheffield United's record in the play-offs is dismal. Twenty matches played over the past five decades — eight two-leg semi-final ties followed by four finals — and the Bramall Lane faithful are still waiting to celebrate their first promotion via this route.

Pull up a chair friend, you're in good company 😉

What's your thoughts on Shaun Harvey?

Obviously, due to its producers, the series didn't seem to mention that he was at all a controversial figure already well known to many in football.

Think we must be contenders for having the longest list of hard luck stories in football.
Also must be the biggest club in the UK to have not won a thing or even been in any final since the war.
Last major trophy was in 1925, last major final was in 1936.

Since then we've

Been in 7 consecutive FA cup semi finals without a win, all very close games losing almost all of them 0-1, not even scoring a goal.
2 league cup semi finals and lost them both, again very tight games conceding very late winners.
8 times in the playoffs, 100% record, never promoted in 8 attempts, probably explains why there's no wild excitement when we do reach the play-offs.
4 play-off finals, lost them all without even scoring a single goal, one we lost conceding deep into injury time, another we were 2-0 up on penalties but still ended up losing 8-7 on penalties with our goalie skying it over the bar.

So you can imagine now that if we ever reach Wembley we just accept we've lost and won't score.

Relegations from the Premier League.
The last time was straight forward but the relegations in 1994 and 2007 were both pretty incredible.
Basically in both matches we were massive odds on favourites to stay up because even if we lost then other teams would need very unlikely wins.

However it's not all doom and gloom.
Up to the 2nd world war, we'd spent almost our entire history in the top flight (at the time one of the best top flight records in England).
Also whilst being out of the top flight 66% of the time we finish in the top 10.
So when not in the Premier League our fans always expect a promotion challenge because that's what we've historically tended to do.
