Today was a prime example. Seriki and Peck showed the often seen problem with young players where they have an off day.

Compare that with Rothwell and Riedewald who have much more experience of managing games. Overall we are too young a side and need experienced players to make us better next season.

I think Tanganga being captain is a pretty damning reflection on the squad. Imagine Wilder knows that too. TBH the whole dynamic of the squad has been off all year. It’s not just about experience but it’s the right balance of characters as well.

I'd prefer players who were good as opposed to old, shouty and with a poor output:wage ratio, but that might just be me

Totally agree, when we had the penalty awarded Tanganga spent ages trying to stop the Hull players moaning to the ref. He should have just left them to it and seen how many got booked, instead he ended up with another needless red card. He definitely isnt captain material

If there is any hope for Kyle Walker to return then you’d think he’d be ideal captain given his experience at the very highest level and his winning mentality.

Looked a lot fitter and sharper and was driving us forward. He looked more like the player he was when at Leeds

Now he seems to be conditioned to proper football again, wonder why we are not using him for free kicks and corners (with Hamer on the edge of the box to smack a clearance in)?

Not wanting to disagree, but we looked a lot better when Hamer shifted to the No10 role as Rothwell and Peck/Riedeweld actually had an option. O'Hare just doesn't drop and show for the ball in the way McGoldrick and Duffy used to. A midfield of Hamer, Rothwell and Riedeweld may get run over by more athletic teams, but at Home against teams that allow us the ball, that's not a bad three...

I'm hoping for a midfield of Reidewald, Rothwell and Phillips for next season. That would be a promotion winning mix of experience, creativity, athleticism and solidity imo.

He comes on, we score two goals.

He played almost like an old fashioned sweeper - not sure he's Lothar Matthaus standard but he seems to deliver that air of authority and freedom to the others.

If anyone should have the armband, we could do worse than give it to him rather than Tanganga.

I would suggest that many many of our experienced players have also experienced poor form: including currently Tanganga and Bamford which completely undermines your main premise. Both also supposed leaders. Neither of the young players mentioned have done anything as stupid as Rothwell this season in getting a red card on debut. I would also suggest you can have leadership qualities at a young age and be a selfish prick when older. Myself included!!

The only mix it would be is of enormous wages compared to output. I'm not renewing my season ticket, but if I knew we were signing Phillips on a perm I would renew, just to cancel it when the deal went through
