What's everybody's expectations for this season? Last year it was a minimum of play-offs for me, so at no point in the season did i feel it necessary to castigate Blackwell for under-performing, as in my view he was meeting my minimum expectations, and in the end surpassing them.

The bar however must be set higher this year, and my minimum expectation is that we are challenging for automatic all season.

I expect us to be promoted automatically.

If we're in the top six a Christmas then money will be made available to help us finish in the top two

Simples ;)

Haha... I always expect the worst and hope for the best, which is why I still keep coming back to United for more! :)

The worst for me is mid-table this season, any lower and I might be joining the wrist-slashers.

The best is obviously promoted as Champions.

Aiming for the play-offs hasn't worked out for us very well the past 3 times we've appeared in the final. I'm sure i'm in the minority, but (other than having a beer before the games) all the play-off finals that we've been in have been utterly draining. I personally haven't enjoyed them at all.
Instead of the usual "close to the top 6 by the New Year" let's aim our sights on "in the top 2".........easy to say, i know.....

Top six again Highbury. With a lot of good teams in the league, the difference between top ten and top six will be luck with injuries and suspensions and the odd penalty (Cardiff, anyone?). The difference between top six and top two is a bit of class, and I'm not sure we've got enough of that. We've got pace and widthnow, but I'm still not sure we've quite enough creativity in the middle of midfield. So around 4th for me unless the Chad boy starts knocking them in, or Blackie pulls a blinder with a loan deal.

Well I've been happy with the play-off positions for the last two years (until we got to one). So this season I'm thinking sod it. I want us to be leading the league from October-ish onwards. Prefeably winning the bloody thing by mid march/early april. Yes I know that won't happen but that is my expectation. Dissapointment sustains me :D

Anything short of top 6 would be a failure for me, and we should be aiming for auto. There's a lack of class (as always) in the division - just look at the number of draws over the weekend.

As long as we hang on to Killa, we look solid at the back, aand if we can get the wingers and Ched working well, we may have enough goals in us to make a real fist of things

I'd agree about the midfield. Ched doesn't look like the sort of striker who can create his only goals, so unless we have other creative outlets in midfield other than cotts (when he plays), we be looking at getting our goals from set plays which isn't going to be good enough. We might have plenty of options on the wings now but i suspect Blackwell will still err on the side of caution, and opt for quinn away from home.

Blackwell really needs to address this issue and sharpish.

What is my expectation, compared to what would I wish?

I would wish for a season like Reading had the season we last went up. Clear winners, clearly the best team. Automatic promotion, anything else is unacceptable.

What do I expect?, well I expect a play-off place finish, with us winning our semi-final with relative ease. The final, I expect, will be another "no show", with us getting beaten by a poorer team, and not even scoring again. Only thing different will be that I won't be there to watch. I'll watch it on the TV.

I don't think we are asking too much by going for auto. We have money to spend and Blackie has improved each year. Second place will do me. :)

As ever we will be hard to beat and should secure a play- off berth.

An injection of quality in the middle, however, together with a striker who can notch 20, should see is an automatic place.

Every season people get carried away about the quality of the opposition and what a hard league it is this year. The truth is there's nothing special.

Stock and Beckford please!

Expectations for the 2009-10 season:

Beat Wednesday by an aggregate score of more than 3-1.

The Premier League's overrated anyway, you stay up one season and Scudamore sends your team to afghanistan for a 4 team tournament against some other mid table Prem team and a couple of local teams made up of farmers and leppers.

Like a number of us who can remember Hodgey between the posts etc etc - my expectations are pretty minimal -

All I expect is commitment, passion and 100% effort from anyone who is lucky enough to pull on our red and white stripes. Anything less than that is unacceptable.

I think that this team is good enough to make the play offs - and though I'll be disappointed if we don't get that far - that's not really the point.

Besides - having seen us in the top flight 3 times now - I'd rather see us win the FA Cup - - It's been too long since 1925!

Sadly - what I do expect - is too many "fans" on the Kop who are too quick to get on the players (and managers) back - and who seem to show their "support" by demoralising and demotivating our team. I'm sure that this season (once again) I'll find some of the fans more frustrating than the football. :(

im aiming high and hoping for a top two finish think weve got the squad for it and with ched evans and who everyone seems to be forgetting jamie ward think weve got a really good chance of scoring goals.
