With an influx of a host of new players I'm not quite sure what to expect. Most of the new players are established pros. They should know what is expected of them. They've had two weeks together so hopefully they 'll have some semblance of being a team.
I always hope we'll win, but atm it's a forlone hope.
Regardless of the result I hope the signs are there that we can perform and compete at this level and The manager actually does know what he's doing.
The pessimist in me thinks it will be more of the same clueless abject performance we've had in the last five matches.
I hope I'm wrong.
Other observations are welcome.

Problem is that they have not had 2 weeks together. Several have been away on international duty. Chong has to travel back from Curacao and Bindon from New Zealand. I am not expecting too much from the Ipswich game. Ogbene will not be able to play either

I expect a better and more competitive performance. If thinks are looking on the up and we've clearly learnt from the start of the season, then a loss isn't the end of the world.

We'd have lost this fixture last season and we have a load of new players.

Looking for a different set up and a more competitive performance.

Harsh to demand victory as even if we'd got off to a good start, it's not a game we could demand victory even if we're hoping to.

The positive now is that in theory we now have options so these players aren't needed in the starting 11.

Would have been good to have seen Ogbene in the team.

I am overly optimistic and think that we will actually see a performance we have been waiting to see. Not sure about the result but at this point, the performance is more important. The results have been bad so far, the performances have been worse. Lets fix that problem first, then we can start building points after that.

Its my second ever away game and I just hope it doesn't turn into chants about Wilder and your getting sacked in the morning....

Hopes: he shows that he's realized the midfield hasn't worked and doesn't leave Peck hanging out to dry again; we show that we have some idea of how to build an attack; the players stop looking like they'd rather be anywhere else.

Expectations: knowing our luck it will be something that muddies the waters--not a massively improved performance that persuades some people he deserves more time, and not a total catastrophe that means he's gone by Saturday morning. A hard-fought draw or narrow defeat with some positive signs would be my guess.

I hope he has somehow signed a big six foot 2 CDM who could plug the gaping gap in midfield and somehow kept it secret.

I expect more of the same and him to be sacked.

Hope - He changes the system.
Expectation - He doesn't.

Trouble we've got is that when you play with a 3 man midfield and a back 4 the midfield has got to be combative. (Fleck, Coutts, Norwood etc)

As it stands our three man field is a mix of a No10 in COH, an attacking midfielder in Hamer and Sydie Peck (possibly best classed as a number 8?).
When they beat the initial press which is weak from Barry, Campbell, Brooks etc the opponent has the whole of the pitch to run at the defence and gain momentum.

Hopefully the midfield selection is addressed and we become a better unit plus the better defenders which have finally been brought in should eventually all be starters (Tanganga, McGuinness & Mee)

I cant see this as unfortunately without being pessimistic i don't think Soumare or Matos are the answer and arblaster is a while away.

I would be in favour of a back 3 and let the wing backs have a license to cover the channels from an attacking perspective.

Write of two young players before they have even played a full game between them

Lets all just take a moment to let this stat sink in:

We have had ONE shot on target away from home this season and that was from the fucking halfway line. ZERO shots on target away from home in the league.

That has to change.
It's why I am genuinely surprised he's still here. We have looked so far off it. It's not like we were a threat and got hit on the break like the Bristol city game

Expecting the same starting formation. A 10 minute flurry at the start of both halfs giving us some hope. Late confusing substitutions. Losing to a late goal. Rinse repeat.

In an alternative world if Carlsberg did SUFC away matches we start with a back three of Tanganga McGuiness and Mee with Soumare and Matos in the middle. Hamer/ COH as a 10. We take the game to Ipswich and our wing backs cause them problems.

I suspect it will be the former rather than the latter option.
