Anyone ever been to Exeter or the surrounding area? i am thinking of tying the game in with my 30th Birthday which is May 4th and my mate who is a blade wants to come along with his family and we can make a weekend of it over the bank holiday. I realise it is a long way away until the game but i wondered if anyone knows if they will definitely be going? (where ever we are in the table) if anyone lives down or has been for work and can recommend somewhere to stay? and if there is anywhere nearby where our misses can shop or take the kids for the day?

Any help would be appreciated UTB and lets hope it will be a promotion party.

I'll almost certainly be going, and doing exactly what i did for the yeovil game. The match followed by a train down to Cornwall, and 2 days of wreck diving.

Making use of the rail service could be a good option most things seem to be good drive away so i base myself somewhere similar and use the train cheers highbury.

Exeter itself is an odd place, some incredibly historical bits with some horrible 60's boxes full of pound shops stapled to it. Ill be taking the opportunity to stay with a mate who lives in a cottage just outside. If you get the chance head up to the Moors. I went on one last trip down and visited some pub which has its fire burning non stop since about 1700. It was beautiful up there, proper windswept.

Take a trip to Buckfast Abbey where the national drink of Scotland is made.

You Londoners don't get out much do you!
As they play in our colours, perhaps we should make it a Non Red and White Day?

may the 4th be with you

I've already planned a weekend away stopping at my sisters that weekend. Just lucky that she happens to live in Plymouth, so i'll probably take her up to Exeter for the day, and then go out on the session round Plymouth Barbican during the evening.

I'm not bothered about a weekend in Exeter, but Plymouth top 5, in the places in the Uk where i have had a drinking session and is an excellent place to have a night out

I have family living just outside Exeter, so might just pay a coincidental visit. I know the area reasonably well, as Walthy says try and get out on the moors, some lovely areas to visit up there, excepting Princetown (home of Dartmoor prison, very grim!). Alternatively if it's a nice day some decent beaches not too far away. Try Torquay/Paignton and the red sanded beaches.

I liked Princetown when i went up there. The Three Feathers pub, the home of Jail Ale!

Does anyone know for certain whether the last matches will be played on Saturday 5th, or is there a chance they may be moved to the Sunday?
