I have complete sympathy with the fans and would hate to be in that position but the clubs spent way beyond their means and for Prem clubs or whoever to bail them out now is a little unfair on the clubs they beat to promotion who tried to spend within their means.

It’s an awful scenario for the fans I do accept that but I’m more than slightly conflicted about how I feel about the clubs.

In 2007, Thaksin Shinawatra passed the 'fit and proper persons' test and took control of Man. City. 'Bent' doesn't come close. The 'authorities' in English football are incompetent at best - that's why our our game is so, er, attractive to all these foreign 'investors'.

If the premier league donated a players wage every week to each club, we would still have the same problems.

It's easy to blame the riches of the premier league (I'm not saying you are here, but all too often that's where this debate ends up), but the real problem is that clubs continue to pay players far too much money.

No matter how much money trickled down form the premier league, it would just find its' way into players pockets, as each club broke the bank in search of promotion - as Bury have done here.

I quite agree with you, of course.

But the person I feel most sorry for in this situation is Paul Pogba.

There's barely a day goes by when someone doesn't suggest his wage is used to bailout Bury, construct a new school roof, build a new hospital wing, repair pot holes, fund the salaries of 500 nurses, or anything else someone or other hasn't got enough money to do.

The poor bastard seems to be supporting the British economy on his on. No wonder he wants out.

I have sympathy with the supporters up to a point. Clearly it could happen to nearly any club.

The problem with supporters of though is they demand success yesterday. Chairmen must show “ambition” and managers must be “backed” at all costs. Our fans would have happily seen us shell out an extra 10-15 million on transfers just to see us get the players in sooner.

I’ve seen this morning they’ve sorted a deal out to keep going with the phrase “the town deserves a football club” being the quote thrown around on the news. The irony is perhaps if they hadn’t been throwing money around and slipped out of the league there wouldn’t have been half as much outcry over them disappearing as other football league clubs have found.(Scarborough, Chester, Rushden and Diamonds). This is not to mention the fact that the town hardly turns out in numbers to support their club.

The EFL have shown themselves to be an absolute joke though. The fit and proper test is worthless and a club shouldn’t be allowed to cancel 4 games and stay in the league. We’ll be here again soon enough though with another side pleading poverty after gambling on success.

The EFL have been quoted as saying that due to time constraints when he took over that they never explored his back ground.
Could not make it up.
The EFL should publish details of what is expected of anyone, person or company to own a club. These have to be adhered to by the start of next season and should at the very least include the placement of a bond equivalent to three months running costs which are lodged with the EFL..

Football clubs need to get their house in order and the EFL have to be seen to take the lead.
