Everton FFP

I know you are joking but it would be on some merit too if it was to ever happen. We have always tried to cut our cloth accordingly even to the extreme under McCabe. Meanwhile other clubs flout FFP rules and get a slap on the wrist for it.
Clearly don't remember January where we had a embarrassing embargo slapped on us

I think Neville Southall (funnily enough) has been the only person in the media I have come across who didn't defend Everton. He just said they broke the rules and therefore should accept the punishment. Other top six pundits seem to be bleating a mixture of...
  • But they 'only' overspent by £20m (irrelevant)
  • But they're being made an example of (just as they were all saying about Man City - obviously the first team to get an FFP points deduction is going to be 'the' example, by virtue of being the first to be punished)
  • But they tried to fix the damage (irrelevant)
  • But they cooperated with the Premier League (actually, they tried to cover it up)
  • But they're a bit shit anyway (also irrelevant)
None of which are excuses in any way. They overspent, consistently, year after year, broke the rules and should be punished for it. That punishment should be a points deduction. Some of the impassioned defences they've been getting are in equal parts nauseating and illogical.
Shouldn't even be a points deduction. Kick them out of the league.

Jags as joined the feel sorry for Everton fan club now! Just give them the 10 back and add another 10 on for compensation and an apology for ffs!! This division stinks!!

Someone Photoshop Everton, Man City and Premier League logos onto this

The shocking thing there is that the whole panel are unanimously backing Everton. Even Courtney.

I hope it has a knock-on to other clubs now. Starting with Man City and Chelsea
where were these experts when Bury went into liquidation
and when Luton and Rotherham had 20 points plus docked for financial faux pas

West Ham standing with Everton shows what a clique the prem is,

If Everton do appeal then lose the appeal can they be deducted more points?

Everton have to be granted permission to appeal first. They will have to prove there are sufficient grounds. One ground could be the Commission have not provided written explanations for their methodology in arriving at the figure of 10 points. If the appeal is considered frivolous it won't be granted. As the EPL's disputes process is based on legal principle unless the EPL themselves appeal against the sanction stating its too lenient or cite new evidence there is little prospect of an increase.

There is no precedent for points deductions in the EPL relating to PSR, this is the first case which leaves the sanction open to challenge. The Appeal body could find the sanction was appropriate. Based on past appeals in the EFL and FA processes and the level of public scrutiny I'm anticipating a points reduction of at least 2 if Everton get the go ahead.

Leicester city fans are so pissed off about the 10 points deduction coming now...if they were applied last season they might've stayed up.
The same Leicester which, pre rule change, declared themselves bankrupt with impunity leaving creditors millions out of pocket and rebuilt with a clean slate resulting in the most successful period in their history with 2 major trophies and Champions League football? That Leicester?

Watching Sky Sports News tonight , I saw an interview with a leading member of Everton’s supporters club who is involved in the various protests which have been planned .

He was adamant that the sanction was totally unjust , on the grounds that it punished their supporters who had played no part in the breaching of the rules .

I seem to recall that this argument has been used in the past with some success and is one which makes a lot of sense , notwithstanding the fact that it can only be used with regard to ‘big’ clubs and not the supporters of ‘less important’ ones who have suffered as a result of flagrant abuse of the rules by their owners and management ……………

I strongly suspect that the supporters who claim they have been punished are the same ones that celebrated each time Everton squeaked survival. They weren’t moaning about their spending then, were they? And if Everton successfully appeal their punishment their fans will be celebrating.

It punishes the whole club, board, management, players and fans, as equally as success rewards the whole entity. You didn’t see City fans sitting on their hands when their wealthy Emirati overlords paid for all their trophies, did you?

If fans can celebrate their team’s success, they can just as fairly huddle together in misery at their punishment.

Paul doesn't look very comfortable here. I suppose it's tricky though for managers to comment on other club's off field issues.
Yeah I thought that.

His answers will be deemed bitter because we are where we are. If this happened in the Wilder 1st season, and he'd said that. Nobody would question it

These fans will, as we all do, also refer to the club using the pronouns

We

And

Us

So you are part of a collective when it suits, but as soon as the punishments come along you should be insulated from them?

Bullcrap.

Don't get me wrong, the club's need to be protected from poor and malicious owners (see Bury) - that absolutely isn't fair on the supporters - but as I have said elsewhere, the only aim of any club is to get points on the board and move up the league table ergo the only appropriate punishment for cheating is a points deduction.

Last season when "We" entered an embargo, it shifted the pendulum with regards the Prince's ownership - that was the thing that meant many of our fans decided they wanted him out.

He couldn't pay the bills because he doesn't have the money.

Our fans are just the same. Everybody wants a rich owner and are only happy when splashing the cash.

I'm confused. I thought we were in the Premier League, but it seems we are in the Premiership. Are we now playing in Scotland? Is that our reward for not breaking FFP rules? Thanks in advance 🤣
Usually I'm well up for pedantry but when it comes to the never-ending corporate rebrands of what will always be Football League Divisions One to Four, I can't bring myself to be arsed.
