Everton and Wilder

Wilder's got bigger fish to fry. If CW gets us promoted and maybe keeps us up. He can have his pick of Europe never mind a bunch Scouse also-rans..........and he'd have my blessing too.

Just out of interest, aside from the size of stadium (and proposed move to a larger one), average crowd, fan expectation, value of squad, number of league titles, number of cups, number of European campaigns (plus 1 trophy), relative recent success, colour of shirts and the record for number of seasons in the top flight, I was just wondering on what grounds you were calling Everton a 'very similar club to us really'?
They are perennial also-rans.

Most premier league and championship managers are no more than 5-10 games from the sack.

Wilder could go and be out of work if he had a poor start. Obviously, there might be clubs to tempt him but imo he’d be crazy to leave the situation where he his clearly building something for anything less than a top job.

no matter what evertons ambitions are they will scour the earth for a top manager and when they get him it won't be chris wilder and whoever they get won't be as good.

prem teams need big names to attract foreign agents and players.

Good point. Ancellotti would fit the bill.

Unlikely, as Everton still have aspirations to be one of the big boys, and as we all know, to do this you need a manager who's surname ends in a "O" or an "I". Having said that, I wish our fans would stop patronising Wilder. Of course he would fucking go if offered, his salary would go from half a million to 5 million.

I honestly think Wilder would rather go down as a legend here and stay loyal to us lot and all his mates and family than leave for the money, he'll always be a championship manager at the very least now as far as I'm concerned, he's not going to be short of offers for the next 10-15 years.

View attachment 32373 Panic over the residents of North Korea talk think wilder is only a good lower league manager. This was after they said he couldn’t manage in the championship, it’s a relief the most knowledgable fans in the world don’t think he’s good enough nobody will be looking at him now!
Would that be the McCarthy who managed his country to the World cup finals ?
Ive heard Bannan is on the short list .

Bare with me and remember this is a discussion forum before anybody goes off on one:
Chris Wilder has just signed a new contract (this season), or more accurately renegotiated his contract after promotion (true).
I suspect it's a good one seeing how McCabe said 'he was a lucky boy'.
In an ideal world and I think there is a good possibility of this there may be bonus clauses in it (just like when you sell on a young prospect), therefore not only would he be well paid he could also achieve bonus' which would push those wages higher, maybe higher than some premiership managers (speculation):
Imagine he's on a basic of £500k a year would that seem outrageous? What about a £100k bonus for avoiding relegation? £200k for getting us in the play offs?
How much would getting us to the Prem be worth as a bonus? And if this were achieved a bonus for keeping us there? Given the money sloshing around in football none of this seems unreasonable to me as well as it only means the club pays if it can afford to.

Neither Everton or Leicester will come in for Wilder, they would want a "Name" or at least a proven Premier manager.

Stoke or Burnley may be interested, but I seriously doubt Wilder would leave for either of those two sides.

We are seeing a lot of wrongs being put right. Their escape from relegation at our expense in 1994 is another that could well be corrected come the end of the season.

It is feasible that the cheats Leicester (who kept their players whilst in admin at our expense) and Everton who benefited from slippery Han(d)s Segers could all come down whilst we swap with them. Highly unlikely now that Leicester and Everton are changing managers. But the cheats are sticking with Bilic so we can swap with the worst of the three.

Having had a look on the Everton forums, they all scoffed at the idea when his name was brought up. That's more than fine by me.

Instead, the most popular choice for their next saviour is.........David Unsworth.

David Weir?.........In the words of Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now..."The horror, the horror".

Zero chance of them moving for Wilder and I’d be surprised if he’s even on their radar.
They’re fishing in totally different waters.

Even if wilder got us promoted this season
Only a handful of prem clubs would be Inretested and that would be dependant on how well we did in the top tier

Swapping places then. DCL will be at the right level.

I thought that I read somewhere that he was on £200K last year and that his new contract was double - but it may have been made up as I can’t remember where I saw it.

It's all speculation but he's worth more than any player and if my performance was going to net £100m to my firm, I'd quite like to see a bonus in my pay packet rather than a pat on the back!

Stopped reading pretty much straight away.

As far as I remember they weren't teammates at SUFC? I'm sure someone would love to correct me though :)

Saunders and Wilder played together a few times at United during the second half of the 1997-8 season and during the first half of the 1998-9 season.
