On a thread that some of you will have missed ('Sheffield United Reserves - the Glory Years') there is a story which I think deserves a wider audience. If you follow the thread from about post 111, you will see that one of our number scored a goal for United. If that is not enough to impress, it adds to the story that he scored against none other than West Ham, in 1957 (see post 117, which gives a great description of it). That he can remember it so well, and has a photograph on his wall to prove it, shows how much it means to score a goal for the Blades. Do we have any other Forum member who has ever scored for United, at whatever level or age-group?

Foxy knows which ex-Blades (maybe current) players are in this forum. I am not going to ask who they are. How many does he know?

Lost count of the number of times I’ve scored the winning goal for United in the cup final, unfortunately I wake up every time and realise I’m still a middle-aged quantity surveyor with zero footballing ability.

I like s24su and this post intrigued me to see what replies are forthcoming.👍

I once played for Tony Currie Soccer School rep team (wasn't a real thing, just a one off) in a United shirt at half time against, I'm guessing an equivalent from Rotherham at Millmoor. I believe it was a pre season Roth v Utd friendly. We only played with cones for goals and lost 3-1 but I scored the one.

No way anyone gives you a more tenuous answer than that 👍

But have you got a photo of it on your wall?

I once scored a penalty against Steve Conroy at a United open day at Bramall Lane. He saved my attempt but the rebound came to me and I made no mistake second time round.
Good job it wasn't a penalty shoot-out - wouldn't have counted!

Lucky bastard all I ever dream about is that polar bear that comes and pisses in my bed then clears off before i wake up and I get done again for pissing the bed. Ironically my mother was much more understanding when it had a shit on the corridor to the bathroom then wiped it's arse down my leg. I was late for school that day.

What you been scooping 8lade?😎

Played in the football aid game a few years ago. I scored with my left peg from outside of the area at the BL end and the slotted home a penalty in front of the kop in a penalty shootout to win the game. My life is complete!

Scored a penalty for Internet Blades Exiles against Internet Blades (not exiles). I was playing in goal but had mentioned before the game that if we got a penalty I was up for taking it. SE1Blade was particularly annoyed when I ran the full length of the pitch to take it as he was on a hat-trick.

Also, as nerves and tensions were running high last season in the promotion run in I was dreaming about a goalmouth scramble where I poked home from a yard out with a desperate lunge. I woke up having kicked over the speakers at the end of the bed.

As attested in the past, Warnock said he'd have stuck me on in Scarborough, Trinidad in 2000, against their 1st X1, being as me and my buddies had blagged a seat on the bench and no one wanted to go on in the second half. I'd had a few ales though. Blackwell went on instead and fucking scored. That meant I would have made it into that book. Gawd-dammit.

Went out later on with the team to a 'school' music bar.

The evenings events are redacted, save for the fact that we had a 17 year old Phil Jagielka on a right old bite that me and my matelot buddies (one of them a pigfan) that we were licenced to kill people. He believed us, the daft twat.

Met up with the rest of the Caribbean Blades the next day on the sand on the beach by our hotel. I hadn't been to bed.

It also seemed that everyone we met there knew Dwight Yorke. I told them I knew Sean Bean.

Scored a goal dressed as a giant bear in a Blades Kit in the Bramall Lane End when I was a teenager in an "Its A Knockout" competition on the pitch does that count ?

Many times I have done a little reflex header along with the goal scorer. Or a leg twitch to kick the ball home. Does that count. I did celebrate each time as though I had scored.

Such a terrible shame that he handled it, was offside & it went in after the final whistle had blown... 👍
