On Thursday 16th February 2012, Rotherham Superbowl will be host to an event to fundraise for the Karl Darby fund which you'll have most likely heard about on here/from SUFC.

The event will start at 7.30pm until around 11.30pm and attendees can play as many games as time permits. There will also be a break to draw a raffle on the night, with various Blades related prizes on offer.

It's likely that at least a few of the Blades squad will also be popping along.

All proceeds from tickets for the night and any raffle tickets sold during the evening will go towards the fund.

I took the liberty of reserving us some places, as I know there will be at least a few people interested in attending.

I'd like to have a decent attendance from forum members and readers of S24SU.com, so why not come along, support a good cause, meet up with some fellow Blades and have a laugh?

Tickets are priced at £6 per person.

If anyone interested could either respond here or PM me letting me know, I'll sort out the details and get your place booked.

Is Johnny playing ??

Is Johnny playing ??

The last time we had an official forum bowling outing, Johnny did indeed "play".

This time however, I doubt he'll make it.

What was his bowling like?
Did he wear his Shipperley shirt?
Did he nearly spontaneously combust when he sent another down the gutter?

I miss Johnny

I don't want to sound all miserable about this - I know Karl's family - but for the cost of the stairlift involved would it not be beyond the boundaries of possibility for the playing staff at Sheffield United to chuck a bit more in than a pair of football boots to be auctioned each?

I am unaware of any player putting any money forward. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the club have made no mention of any player coughing up. I'm sure the majority of United players wouldn't miss a few hundred quid each and would go a lot further to reaching the target for this very worthy cause a lot quicker than constantly asking the supporters to pay.

I know that a lot of people have donated money and bought items on eBay for this cause. Good on you. I'd just like to see some of the very wealthy young men that play for Sheffield United chuck in. The club like to tell us that players have visited hospitals, so surely if a player had contributed then I'm sure the club would love to tell us all about that too.

I'm not sure as to what the players have/haven't done, but I know at least a few of them have supported the fund.

This event isn't organised by the club, it's been independently set up by the Disabled Supporters who have recently requested support from the Blades (Player attendance/possible sponsorship/prizes).

It could be covered quite easily by wealthy individuals, that's without doubt, but this is a good opportunity to have a drink and a laugh with fellow Blades, with your cheaply priced night going directly towards helping Karl - sounds a no-brainer to me.

Had a few PM's but not a huge amount, anyone else fancy coming along?

Just another bump, could do with a few more to fill another lane if anyone fancies it?

Should be a good night, some bowling, beers and a few blades players (fingers crossed a couple of legends too).

... and another bump, just to say thanks to those who came along to the bowling event (don't forget who won the first and most important game ;)) and those who donated by other means.

Karl's lift is now sorted, so he can now get back in his parents (Barbara and Roy) house and will most likely be leaving toward an away match from there for the first time this weekend.
