Evans was class

Are you seriously comparing some one to coutts so quickly after he played such a big part for us. Let's not forget we was sitting at the top of the league when coutts got injured and he played a massive part of it so let's not start comparing players, yeah they both play similar roles but to say he is better than coutts seems a crazy view. Lee Evans played brilliantly as he did at Norwich away but let's see how it goes.

Saying that I wouldn't compare him to some one who played a massive role in last season and the start of this season who only lost his place because of his injury if it wasn't for that he would be in the first team still.

He was good, but he had a poor touch under no pressure in the first minute of the second half which had us on the back foot and seemed to set the tone for the whole half.

I am just saying I feel like it's a bit of a quick decision to say his all round game play is better than a player that played such a big part of this season and last season for us. Evans has had 2 brilliant games for us and I hope his form carries on and fingers crossed we start picking results up again.

Giroud has been awesome for arsenal for many years. His replacement is a lot better. Just because Arsenal have chosen to replace him and we have had to wait and somewhat be forced to replace him, I don't see what the issue is. Evans has played 2 games and slotted in seamlessly.

Lundstram took a lot of games and time to slot in and still wasn't at Coutts level. Evans in the 2 games I've seen is at the Coutts level and also appears to offer more; a fantastic shot from 25yrds and also a better corner taker.
 



I thought Evans was more in the Fleck mould as a player. He looks a natural replacement for Fleck should he be out at anytime.

We have a very strong midfield squad with decent options in all positions, and even better when Coutts is back next season.

Is this the best united team/squad for a decade?

Agree on corners and another reason not to take him off
 
Watch some replays of Coutts from our first 10 games and you'll realise how good he is and what we've missed. Evans is a good shout credit to Wilder and Co.

I never said he couldn't be in times to come? But surely this quote shows what a statment that is to make at this stage. I was simply saying it's a little bit quick to jump on and say he is better than coutts after where we was with him in the team and how we have dipped in form since his loss surely this shows the work he did do for us. I never said Evans didn't have a good game did i?

I have seen Evans 2x now, today and at Norwich and both games think he played well controlled play and always showed willing for the ball and probably my man of the match in both games followed very closely by Stearman. I simply said it is a very early decision to say he is better than a player that has played such a big part in where we are now. And having said all that I still think coutts would get a place in the midfield even with the new signings.
 
Agreed, Evans already looks a really good player, calm and composed in possession, plays a very similar style to Coutts.

This is really impressive when you consider that he’s only just joined us.
 
There was one particular ball out wide, that he hit on the volley cutting across the ball whilst simultaneously falling over, which was inch perfect and absolute quality.

Baldock made a few great ones today too.

He was good, certainly a better fit for the seemingly unplayable "coutts role", but only coutts can fully fit that place. Evans is simply a different player and plays best to a different shape than coutts does. (Still good tho)
