I know you’ll back the club to the hilt but this is a shit excuse.

Having been through the sale of a business myself you don’t just stop making important decisions relating to the future of the business just in case it gets sold.

A sensible company carries on as normal and where absolutely necessary speaks to the potential buyers to make a decision in a reasonable timescale.

Whether we sold the club or not, we needed a new kit and it’s a decent idea commercially to sell a few of them to fans ahead of the season starting. We’ve missed a big commercial opportunity here.

It’s not odd phrasing, it’s him covering himself for any number of possibilities that could delay the kit. Therefore he can fall back on saying the plan was… if he says it’s definitely out Monday and a fire destroys everything Sunday people will say he told us it would be out Monday.
