Enjoy Andre Brooks

He was put there as we didn't play wingers/wide nen back then outside of wing backs and he isn't one of those. His strength is his dribbling. Out wide you typically have more space to run into.
He didn’t play CM in the academy?

Reggae boyz losing 1-0 to DR Congo. It’s extra time. Brooks not featured yet.

Didn't get on.

Shame. Is there any academy product who has been with us since a child and made it through to the world cup with us? Would have been a cool achievement

Surprised they didn't bring him on. Looking at the tweets it sounded like Jamaica were never the likely one's to score.
And that it was a pretty dour game overall.

He's still young enough that he should hopefully get many more caps. (Assuming his career path is still upwards) . Be 26 by the time of the next world cup.
Jamaica though don't often make it to the finals. Basically once in 1998.
However Fifa were mulling make 2030 a 64 team world cup!?

I watched the first 25mins and Jamaica were never going to win that game. You've heard of near enough every Jamaican as most are either British, or play here - but they're a team of 2nd/3rd tier standard players.

I didn't realise Congo were as strong as they are, of their 17 players used last night, all play Top Flight football except Mbuku at Montpellier, Kayembe at Watford and Kipenga at Castellon.
Here's the players who featured last night and their respective clubs...

  1. Mpasi (Le Havre)
  2. Wan-Bissaka (West Ham)
  3. Mbemba Ch. (Lille)
  4. Tuanzebe (Burnley)
  5. Masuaku (Lens)
  6. Elia (Alanysapor)
  7. Moutoussamy (Atromitos)
  8. Sadiki (Sunderland)
  9. Mbuku (Montpellier)
  10. Wissa (Newcastle)
  11. Bakambu (Betis)
  12. Bongonda (Spartak Moscow)
  13. E. Kayembe (Watford)
  14. Mukau (Lille)
  15. Kipenga (Castellon)
  16. J. Kayembe (Genk)
  17. Pickel (Espanyol)
Compare that to the Jamaican players and the only top flight players of relevance play for Brentford (reserve) and Villa. The top flight players are 2x MLS, 1x Macedonian, 1x Russian and 1x SPL
  1. Blake (Philadelphia)
  2. Webster (Shkendija)*...who?!?
  3. Pinnock (Brentford)
  4. King (St. Mirren)
  5. Latibeuadiere (Coventry)
  6. Palmer (Luton)
  7. Hayden (QPR)
  8. T. Campbell (Charlton)
  9. De Cordova-Reid (Leicester)
  10. Bailey (Aston Villa)
  11. Cadamarteri (Wrexham)
  12. Cephas (Pari NN)**...who?!?
  13. Mason-Clark (Coventry)
  14. Fray (Inter Miami)
  15. Bell (Charlton)
  16. N. Campbell (Varen Nagasaki)
  17. Hall (Notts County)
*Shkendijia are a North Macedonia Top Flight Team
**Pari NN are a Russian Top Flight Team

Bailey Brooks Mason-Clark would be a terrifying 3. Paceeee

Looks like we’ll be enjoying Brooks a bit longer as he works back up to fitness at the start of next season…unless someone is happy to buy a crock I guess?

Do you think Chong did well then?
It’s one of the few games I missed.

I don’t think Chong is a regular and at times he has a heart of a pea. He has had the odd decent game, such as QPR away.

It’s just odd the way he randomly throws in a jibe when it’s clearly safe ground.

Did he mention how shit Rothwell has been in 90% of the matches? No, because Chris signed him and there’s no desire to get on the wrong side of him. So, far better to have a snipe at those the manager doesn’t fancy.

Brooks and Chong are "like for like" though hence the mention?

Chong has been very disappointing and rightfully should be mentioned that he's not taken his chances to impress whatsoever.
