Brilliant post Ball_Sup (Phil). I followed England for a mere 4 years circa 2002 - 2006. Brilliant experience. Losing 4 nil away to Denmark, but had the best time with both England and Danish fans. Visiting both Malmo and Copenhagen within the tip.

I was there, singing along with "you're shit but your birds are fit"

And the best of the lot 01/09/01 Germany 1 England 5 ... literally just been talking with a fellow Blade in Handsworth Inn tonight about that great weekend in Munich. In a weeks time the lucky bugger is off too Russia for 3 weeks to watch England, obviously assuming we get that far!

Greenwich Blade has a belting story about the 5-1. I think he did it all with no money and ended up getting in with a photographers accreditation.

Look forward to you buying me a beer at Scarborough - have to settle on a place to watch England on the Thursday night

Pinchy hi mate. I'm all over this thread. Got any "jokey" names for us yet?

No mate. You deluded ‘England’ lot are entitled to your idiosyncrasies but please indulge them elsewhere. There’s even a section provided for ‘other football’ courtesy of Foxy and Linz. I wouldn’t flatter ‘England’ to that extent myself but it’s there for you to use for this sort of stuff.

England fans.

They all voted ‘leave’.

5 Pages about Engerland ................... Why??? They will be on the plane home by June 30th.

Couldn't give the slightest of shits about "our" bunch of overpaid, overhyped, ego-driven morons to be honest. I'm looking forward to the WC because I enjoy watching football, and given my utter disdain of the england team, I will be supporting Argentina because I've drawn them in the sweepstake at work.

Disgraceful.

The OP was to see if anyone wanted to buy a cheap England ticket to see two former Blades Maguire and Walker, so it's easy to see the United link in this thread, even the more simple ones can work that one out.

It's f***ing easy, if you don't like the thread don't read it, simples!!!

In addition to Germany, who I always support anyway, I like to see an underdog do well too. I might go for Iran this time around, maybe Serbia as well.

Fuck Engerland obviously.

There are some real miserable buggers on here :(

Come on England :) although after being 24-3 up, we are now getting a stuffing in South Africa (sorry, wrong section) ;)

Well I do. So, I'll have a go at that one.

I'm a football fan. I have a club side I support. They are called Sheffield United. I started going to matches in the 1960s. Since I started going, they have often been shit. Occasionally in the top flight. But more often than not screwing it up in some way. I care, of course I care. But, they're my team. Thick n thin. In sickness or in health.

I also have a national side I support. They are called England. I started going to matches in the 1970s. Since I started going, they have often been shit. Occasionally in the top flight. But more often than not screwing it up in some way. I care, of course I care. But, they're my team. Thick n thin. In sickness or in health.

If Sheffield United ever played England. I would definitely support Sheffield United in that game. But, they won't. So, there is no conflict there at all.

But, England are shit & lose games (I hear you say). Mate - have you even heard of Sheffield United?

I've made lifelong mates supporting England. Including many who are also Sheffield United fans. I never met them at The Lane, but I met them in Budapest, Minsk, Lund. I met my wife on an England away trip. We're on an England away trip now in the South of France. I have seen the World watching England. Brazil, Korea, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Albania when it was still closed. Transnistria, which still is closed. Tourist places. Famous places. Unusual places. Met people. Looked 'em in the eye. Bought them a beer.

I'm a football fan. I like watching my team(s). No conflct between Utd & England obviously. People support shit teams. Many support Sheffield United. Are we getting anywhere?

From the point that I became a United fan, I found it extremely difficult to support an England team made up of the likes of Woods, Waddle, Batty, and other players that frankly I’d loathed when United had played them. It was easier, and frankly far more attractive, to follow my dad and uncle’s country of birth, Wales. A team where Glyn Hodges was occasionally in the squad, and I could support in a similar underdog way to United – never having the arrogance or overconfidence of being entitled to the top rewards, and instead just being able to enjoy the football. I imagine I enjoyed the last Euros more than most England fans have enjoyed any of the tournaments in that time. England for me have been much more like a Nottingham Forest or a Liverpool team – a sense of entitlement based on a bit of past success they constantly talk about, despite it being in the distant past.

I’m a Blade and English. I have some well diluted Scottish blood but essentially going back hundreds of years the vast majority of my ancestors are English. Enough said - no conflict of interest.

Too many people buying into the popular narrative that English and only English people should be ashamed of their history and heritage.

Support another country against England? No. Want another team to win an individual game that England aren’t in, of course I’m a football fan.

Oh and by the way I was a remain voter before anyone asks.

Our U17s played some wonderful football and outclassed Spain to win the WC last year. The same age group were 2017 European runners up (denied only by a stoppage time equaliser). We also won the U20 WC (DCL winner) and the U19 European Championship, all in 2017. We are also current Toulon tournament champions and have just reached our 3rd consecutive final. Hope for the future, or another false dawn?
Now Toulon Champions 3 times on the bounce. Well played lads!

Support Germany you’re fucking kidding me as with the French they’re the natural foe.
England are the perennial failures but I’m proud to be English still the worlds best country

Anyone who does is a liar and/or an attention seeker. Simple.

When it comes to tournaments, its laughable why people wouldn’t get behind their country. Can’t wait for the WC personally.

Germans don't give a toss about England. Their rivals are Holland, ask any German. England are to Germany what Rotherham are to United.

The last time I got even slightly interested in a tournament was when Greece led by Tri Dellas won the European Championships. If Walker or Maguire get a game I might get interested in England's fortunes otherwise fuck the rest who are picked because they play at [.......................................] insert top 6 club name. As for Gareth Southgate the only thing he motivates me to do is go for long shite while reading The Stir newspaper which will be days behind reporting any interesting events.

I like hearing other people's views. There isn't right & wrong - there is different.
But, to have people post, on a Sheffield United Forum, "I can't support Team X because they are shit & a laughing stock" is sort of missing the point.
Anyway, support who you want, England, Wales, Germany, Argentina - that is how the World goes around. But, if they're shit & a laughing stock, please keep supporting them.
That's how it works.
