Going up 2 tiers is a big step but not one that hasn't been done many times before. Just look at Dele Alli, League 1 to one of the best players in the PL.

I believe he's very much an attacking full back so he will suit the 3-5-2 system we currently play. We did need extra competition at left wing back, especially since Done and Hussey are transfer listed and likely to go. Seems an excellent signing to me. As others have said, its great to sign a current player of the year for an up and coming player as opposed to an ex premier league player looking for one final pay day. Saying that we've had a few decent oldies too! Paul McGrath, Gordan Cowans and Stuart McCall spring to mind!

Its also nice to know that for once we are less likely to be plagued as a League One club by the vultures that is the clubs from the Championship! For once we can now do the poaching! I hope Pompey do well though saying that - a proper club. I also see Kyle Bennett is out of contract there. He could be worth a shout if we miss out on higher profile targets like Holmes.

Couldn't have any complaints with this. Free transfer, deal done early, good player, good age. That's the way to do it. Get in there before others do, especially for the free agents. We're certainly not fucking about.
