Whatever happend to that kid who won Vietnamese soccer Pricnces?
Excuse me barnyblade but is the reason you chose that name because you like a barnie because you seem to be falling out withTampons are on offer - Tesco.![]()
"Vietnamese soccer princes" LOL I'd forgotten all about that, wasn't that the TV show that was going to establish us as THE club to follow in S.E. Asia?
Diego was highly talented until his injury.I hope this isn't another one where the fancy name gets him further than his talent does.
See diego di girolamo for example.
Yep.. The number of places McCabe has attempted to "establish" us reads like a Michael Palin trip,
China
Hungary
Brazil
Vietnam
Nigeria
Saudi Arabia
Now back to China again..
Thinking about it more Karl Pilkington than Micahel Palin.
It would have only worked if we'd have stayed in the PL and Fradi got into the CL.You forgot Australia. To be fair to McCabe, it doesn’t seem a bad plan in terms of a marketing strategy. Unfortunately, he got the balance between the 4 Ps wrong. Plenty of emphasis on promoting SUFC overseas. Very little on the product he was marketing. You can get the name out there as much as you want but if the club drops to league 1 nobody’s going to give a shit about them except us idiots.

Corporations might have been interested in package deals if they had that to hang their hat on.
I'll say it before someone else does, it opened a few doors for KM's other businesses.
Which PL clubs are making money out of China? I was told it was pointless because all most supporters spend their money on are snide replica shirts that the club's don't have any connection with.I think the China connection could have been good if we'd become established in the PL. It's a big market to try to take a slice of and we tried to break in with signings like Haidong and Lie Tie. Just wasn't to be.
As I've said, the only merchandise being bought at the time were fakes knocked up in sweat shops.I think Liverpool and Man U have big Chinese followings but I acknowledge we couldn't compete with them. I don't know exactly how it works to be honest but I would imagine, a fan base in such a heavily populated country would be a good thing for us be it in terms of merchandise, TV revenue etc.

We don't own our TV rights, we wouldn't get any more money directly. Or we wouldn't if we were in the PL.
My take on it is that it wasn't so much trying to run before you can walk but trying to sing Nessun Dorma before you can talk. You may be right Bush. I don’t know enough about the commercial side to say with any certainty. I just thought tapping into a potentially large market with China being so heavily populated and just developing a football interest in the time seemed like it had the potential to be lucrative. I don’t know how much we’d make from pre-season tours over there. A lot of clubs seem to be doing that these days.
Who's the best centre half talent at the club in your opinion, Evans, Cummings, Semple, Adebowale?I wouldn't say it's surprising. He's not a main starter for the U21s.
It's tough to call with them all being at different stages of development but I personally like the look of Cummings.
But not in the way Foxy liked the look of Maxime...
