AyeHuge game on Saturday now. Win 2-0 and we go above Burnley and could even go top.
Unfortunately there will be many empty seats on the Kop. I'm sure virtually every season ticket will be used but that will still leave us two or three thousand short (not sure how many st holders on the Kop) I won't be there, but if I was I'd probably just stand in my usual place. Blades fans have been standing on that Kop for over a century. There's not been a single game where everyone has sat down. I doubt Saturday will be any exception.
EDIT just saw Burnley are playing tonight, if they win we can't catch them at the weekend
Aye
‘We’ used to put bairns up chimneys n’all & smoke 40 Woodbine an hour & go on holiday to Bikini Atoll & I know a fella who got run over on the pavement so he how walks down the middle of the road, and and and ….
Siddarn ya fucking twats, I can't see fuck all, thar's spilled me fucking bovril na ya cunt, Sheffield City Council are right, best council and safety committee ever, stop these bastards from coming in and standing with their mates because they were only allowed to buy one fucking ticket each
Unfortunately it's an all seater stadium .... dont understand what's the problem .... when safe standing happens now that's a different story!!To be honest I'm nearly 60 and my view is that the bulk or all the Kop should always be standing, it's a important part of football and improves the atmosphere.
Always thought there should be free choice, people who want to stand stand, people who want to sit sit....then everyone is happy.
Surely standing can't be a problem as it's never been a problem to date, so makes no sense.
However as mentioned earlier having people gathering around the gangways is a technical serious no no, if there was a heart attack then it's essential they can get to the fella asap. Also squeezing extra people into a limited number of seats is also potentially an accident waiting to happen.
My view is that some Authorities are concerned that standing encourages rowdy behaviour which can then spill over to anti social behaviour and in fairness they might be right. Think that's why some Blades don't want to see standing (no matter how safe) return.

Don’t think it can be that as any areas sold out are changed to pink.
These are the red areas in the middle of the South stand and John street stand where that area is locked. It’s never been like that for any other home game this season.
When I was a kid if someone told me to do something and it made no sense I'd ask why.
It reminds me if you live in a village with a sign that says "keep off the grass"
I ask for the reason for the sign, your response is "no one really knows, it's been there for decades and it's easy to just stay off the grass, it's no big deal so we accept it"
Agree with you to a point, relatively speaking it's no big deal but I think every rule should be questioned.
Football is totally different to what it was in the 80's, since all seater stadia millions have stood up and there's not been 1 death or even a serious injury.
The away fans on the lower tier stand almost the whole game, will that be heavily stewarded for safety reasons with a threat of closure when it's always been safe.
As mentioned the only viewpoint where I can understand the safety committee is if they've identified a correlation between sitting down = generally better behaviour, less shouting, weaker atmosphere but less likely to be anti social behaviour. I can understand that but that's changing the culture of football into a more middle class sport.
When I was a kid I used to love the atmosphere on our Kop when there were 35K-40K in the ground.
I have grand children and would love them to experience something similar before I die.

Not sure that this is the case, just an idea, but could be related to the ground having changes made for the rugby? I went on the ground tour before the Women’s euros and they were saying they had to take our dugouts out and replace them with UEFA compliant ones, then put ours back in ready for the season. No idea if that’s happening now, just a thoughtIndeed, and it’s the same for the Rotherham fixture.
It would appear that there is rather more going on than the club have disclosed in public. In addition to the nonsense on the Kop, there appear to have been restrictions imposed in the centre of the South Stand and the John Street.
Huge home game tomorrow against a top of the league, in-form and confident Burnley team. A packed and raucous Bramall Lane could make all the difference.
But it won't be packed, since our club have banned ticket sales in the most atmospheric part of the ground because less than 100 people might not be sitting in their assigned seat. That, after the club first ordered unexplained ticket checks in the area and sent in aggressive bouncers to sort out the issue.
In a few years time there will be absolutely no atmosphere left within the ground, at which point the club will be happy I'm sure. Maybe they should just shush the fans through the PA system instead.

A good 80%What percentage of the Kop do you think consists of season ticket holders?
Read the club statement again:It’s not the clubs decision to do this.
in case you are perhaps a registered FA referee let me put it this way…

As above - I think 80% is a pretty good estimate. But you'll be able to see tomorrow, obviously. What percentage of the Kop do you think consists of season ticket holders?
I generally blame the club too...what a farce to be losing revenue.Read the club statement again:
"Both the council and SGSA have been in contact asking the club to intervene on matters of safety within the Kop before they take further action....
The club’s safety team has made numerous attempts to resolve the situation, including marked signage, terms of business and clearly displayed ground regulations, along with increased stewarding and safety procedures. It has now been agreed that no matchday tickets will be sold for the Kop stand for the foreseeable future to enable the club to review operations."
Ultimately, this wasn't the council's decision. This wasn't SGSA's decision. This was SUFC's decision.
Under pressure from the two bodies mentioned, maybe. But the club made this decision - nobody else.
They only made it because of their own total ineptitude in dealing with the original issue.
I know it's tempting to stick up for the club. An attack on United sometimes feels like a personal attack on me. But on this, they have made a total cock-up of the situation.
And that's not exactly out of character for them, is it?
Also is there a time limit on standing.
Can you stand for goals? What about corners? What about exciting periods of play?
Rotherham were too for the original dateBurnley game day tickets were on sale for a long time before they were halted.
I suppose the issue isn't the actual standing, that's maybe a red herring. Is it really that hard to understand "stand when you'd naturally stand, just not all the fucking time or where you're blocking the exits"
The Rotherham match already had over 31K tickets sold before it was postponed. It was getting very close to a full sell out.Rotherham were too for the original date
It will be wank. G&H will still get a bit going as they do in the big games, but the back of the Kop is the only place that generates any noise at all week in week out. It's a real kick in the teeth to the clubs most passionate supporters. If the atmosphere's utter wank tomorrow at least there's an oven-ready excuse.
Some people would 'naturally stand' for a large part of the game. Any attack when we get it in the box, for example. Others will stay seated even when we score. Is it really that hard to understand "stand when you'd naturally stand, just not all the fucking time or where you're blocking the exits"
Maybe it is the fans who don't sit in their allocated seats and/or block the gangways need to see the consequences of their decsion makingIt will be wank. The club need to see the consequences of their decision and it was their decision even if it has been made under duress. More needs to be done to stand up for the vocal aspect of our support and get a solution found quickly.
How many times....standing up is not the main issueLooking forward to seeing the 2,700 Burnley fans being told to sit down.
