Stearman and Sharp start instead. Worried about Egan's absence, he has been outstanding.

Duffy doesn't play
We struggle

At the start of the season he didn't play but we went boring and defensive with a flat line of Evans Fleck and Lundstram.

He's not playing today but we've gone offensive with McG filling in and everyone else where they should be.

A lot more hopeful.

And there lies our biggest problem...we can’t rely solely on one creative midfielder. Given he’s in his 30s we’ll need to address this sooner or later. Today should either provide the evidence required for funds to be released in Jan for a 2nd creative midfielder...or, force us into finding another successful winning formula.

Yes, and the key player allowing Wilder to adopt this more positive approach in starting McG, is Ollie Norwood - He proved himself in the short time he’s been here and Tufty trusts him

Saw Duffy outside the copthorne, being rested for Friday.

CW in his interview numerous times points out that when duffy doesn't play we haven't really got a replacement. Says a lot (or nothing) about woodburn and maybe hinting to the board that come January, we Will need to spend on this position.

Well if we ain't McGoldrick did a fuckin good impression today.

Agreed the main position we need to fill is another quality creative midfielder.
Top priority

Totally agree. I always felt that Goldie could do the Duffy role and I think the Wigan game showed he can. Not up to Duffy at his best yet but think with time he could be as good. Very clever skilful player. Hopefully Duff can go on for as long as possible but I think we have got a replacement/sharer of the role.

Yeah, given the way we play replacing Duffy (at some point) is a must. We did really miss him today (movement, skill etc). Feels weird saying that given we won and scored four, but CW said the same, so I'm not totally bonkers!
