The rule is any goal off a hand is overruled, and it was off his hand quite clearly, Egan needs to start thinking about where his hands are, second game in a row.

I watched it live and saw several replays. From what I’ve seen, it didn’t touch his hand or arm and if it did, it’s certainly not “clear and obvious” as they say!

As an ex ref I rhave to say VAR is a bag of bollocks
Instead of 1 ref getting involved there's 4 and seems to be by majority rule of the VAR refs locked in a trailer 100s of miles away so they can't be abused. We should get a coach trip up and gather round it hurling abuse or cutting off the electrics

It's clear as day, it comes off someone else in front of him, but then he moves his arm into it (assume the change in direction makes his moving his arm out of the way into a karate chop) but yeah, clear handball, thankfully didn't cost us.

Handball doesn't fall under the 'clear and obvious' rule. It's either handball or its not. Whether or not the ref saw it is irrelevant. If an attacking player touches the ball with his hand before scoring, then it's handball. No if's no but's.

As crappy as that may be, it went in off his hand - I'd have expected it to be possibly disallowed under the old rules. Umder the new rules there is no question.

I do not like how VAR is used within the ground but you cannot argue with it today in terms of the decisions.

I've watched it about a dozen times & I can't be sure it hit his hand.

Due tonthe size of a football it has hit his wrist/forearm/hand area. Whilst without a cricket style hotspot I could not give you the exact dimensions of the part of his handball worthy anatomy it has hit, it's clearly not changed direction after hitting anything else.

There's no way that anyone could be sure if it touched his hand or not from the angles available. I'm convinced it went in off the top of his thigh after seeing it about a dozen times. If it did touch his hand, it must have just brushed the hairs on the back of it. How the fuck could they tell from those camera angles. VAR needs binning. End of.
