He is starting to become a legend. Have we finally replaced morgs?

Sounds like another good game from him - no surprise about the upturn in results since he got into the side

I hate being pessimistic about these things but I hope we start to work on a deal to turn his spell permanent, and don't get into a cahill situation where he plays so well we can't keep him here.

With the respect its unlikely we'll tie up any loan player until we know what division we're in next season.

The bottom line with the loan system is it enables lower division clubs to bring in top players on the cheap but of course it's only a temporary boost.

I expect EEL will want to play for a Championship club and demand Championship level wages.

So if we don't get promoted this season we've no chance of keeping him. That's the nature of the business.

Also you find that loanees play really well because they are in the shop window playing for their futures. Once a club gives them a long contract then their form tends to drop, like what happened with Brayford.

Bit like Coady .

I suspect wolves - with all their investment may be open to selling him. Suspect that a lot will depand on how he enjoys his football here, but agree he could well attract interest from the division above

And I expect after the debarkle with Hammond we would be very cautions about agreeing to take players at the end of their loan spells.

Disagree on brayford tho, think more than attitude serious injuries and changes in managers affected him more than a lack of effort.

Remember not so long ago when we had a back five of

Long

Brayford, Mceverly, Collins, Alcock.

Still suffer with the nightmares...

Chuck EEL into that back four, push McEveley to left back and have the right manager getting the best out of 'um and that defence would be more than adequate for this division. I'd say better than the current defence. Brayford's a class act, much better than Freeman, Collins alongside Maguire was an excellent partnership at div 3 level, no reason why he wouldn't be the same alongside EEL, and I'd have McEveley at left back over Lafferty who's pulled up no trees yet.

Collins and McEverley epitomised the crap we've had to watch for seasons. Crap that finally is being purged. Watching Jay crumble or "Collo" bollock a colleague for after the entire defence dropped a rick are memories I'm desperate to erase!

Agree with you about Brayford , not sure about McEveley, Jury's out on Lafferty.

No doubt Wilder is already considering retaining EEL's services beyond this season. That's why promotion is critical for all concerned. If the lad is enjoying his time at the club then that might go some way to sorting something out.

Lafferty won't look good at wing back. He's clearly just a left back. I'll wait until he's played there before judging him properly. My impressions are that he'll be fine there. If we're playing with wing backs we should probably go with Hussey.

As for EEL, he's doing well but it's not like he's blatantly a cut above L1. As it stands we'd have a good chance of signing him.

That was a thorough defensive examination and we looked far less likely to crumble than we have for a long time.

The changes Wilder has made have been very good since game 4 - funny that some of us were crucified for having a real go at our useless defence of pre-season and the first few games.............1 left (and the best one) of the back 4 and goal keeper.

UTB

I like Landell, solid and reliable defender. One thing i noticed though last night was his apparent reluctance to keep the ball for long and almost always quickly releases it to midfield, as though he is not comfortable on the ball. I only remember one small surge from him last night. Maybe not a bad thing and perhaps still finding his feet?

He (Lafferty) did put the cross in for Chapman to score last night though.

he won the tackle that lead to the build up for the goal - guys a tank and should be captain for me

LANDELL won't hang about on the ball.....his job is to win it, and either clear it or give it to someone else. I guess that's how wilder wants to play it, and for me it's the right way.

Centre backs in league one generally aren't play makers as well. They do their job, and get rid.

Collins isn't fit to lace O'Connell/Wright's boots, and McEveley was god awful

EEL's my new favourite player. He smashes bricks with his head and crushes cans with his little toe. A real cult hero.
