Obviously the rankings can change week on week based on opponents form, but BB's calcs have us on an easier run in than Boro, Blackburn and Luton.

Worth a watch if interested, or not, if not.

I know this makes sense but doesnt take into account the form of the teams especially - Boro are on an amazing upwards curve as are Blackburn but our form has been dismal really both in results and performance. But lets hop BB is accurate.

A mere 4 1/2 mins??? What’s he doing with himself he used to take 45 mins to get a 2 min point across

Blackburn are a real Jekyll and Hyde team. Yes, they're now on a five game winning run but before that they hadn't won in 5 (D4 L1) and had only won three of their last 10 (D4 L3). Over 15 they're settling to a norm: W6 D4 L5. They're now 9 points back with a seriously poor goal difference (+1 against our +25). They're out of the race, realistically.

Boro's run of form is borderline ridiculous. They've won 4 of their last 5 (L1), 8 of their last 10 (L2) and 12 of their last 15 (L3). They're the ones to watch but we knew that anyway. Their next 4 are easier on paper - Swansea, Stoke, Preston & Huddersfield - but then they have Burnley, Norwich, Luton and Coventry in their last 7. We can also only hope that the version of Stoke which smashed Sunderland 5-1 at the weekend turns up at the Riverside.

Our 5 game form is poor (W2 L3) but extend that outlook to 10 games and we're much better (W5 D2 L3) and to 15 and we're up there with Boro (W10 D2 L3).

Incidentally, extend our 10 game form to the end of the season and do the same with Boro and they'd make up 7 points on us...

There comes a point, even with the greatest form in the world, that if the team above keeps the points difference ticking over, heads drop, and you mentally start preparing for the play offs, and keeping 3rd.

Exactly - it can be oddly disheartening for Boro to play their best game of the season to win 5-0 against Reading, then see us grind out a 1-0 to get the same three points and make absolutely no difference to the gap.

Let's be right. It was a bit of a kick in the bollocks the other night for them, us winning at Reading.

Hopefully the slightly weird Swansea team can do something at home and we take care of business.

Very difficult to grade - teams down the bottom of the league often raise their game to avoid relegation. It's the teams in mid-table with nothing to play for that you wanna be playing, if anyone.

Possibly, but it can also be argued that teams with nothing to play for have no pressure and can play without nerves etc. If there's one thing for certain, it's that trying to compare run-ins is utterly futile.

Win 6 and draw 2 of our final 11 and Boro have to win 9, even then we will be on level points.....we win 7 and draw 2 and Boro can only afford to lose 1 game and even then they will still only be level with us going into the last day....

6 of the last 11 are at home, all of which are winable. Granted a few harder games, in Luton and West Brom, (and Bristol City to be fair) but there should be 4 wins at least, the other 2 draws, we should not be losing at home again this season. That's 14 points, putting us on 81. That leaves us looking for 6 points on the road....Sunderland are in shocking form, Norwich are inconsistent but I would take a point there now, Burnley will be incredibly difficult and we need to avoid our GD being hit hard...then it is Huddersfield who will probably be relegated by then and Brum. Wins at Sunderland and Huddersfield should be our aim...

I don't think there is much between our run-in and theirs to be honest....but if we win 6 and draw 2 we achieve 87 points Boro have then got to pick up 28 points from a possible 33 to pip us which is a huge ask.

Win the next game and see where we are. We could be 7 points ahead still. Or 10 ahead. Or if we lose only 4 ahead.

Boro then play Tuesday and us Wednesday. This might be good or it might be bad. If we are going into Wednesday 7 points ahead I'd be quite happy with a point.
