....because why not. 28 year old Colombian striker. Spent the season on loan at Atalanta from Sampdoria. Scored 23 goals in Serie A. Reasonable previous scoring record that has gradually improved. 7 caps for Colombia.

That’s all I know about him.

Because of a lot of the reasons outlined in your post?

OK, if we're doing this....

M'Baye Niang - Centre forward or wide attacker previously of AC Milan who's promised much but not consistently delivered having been out on loan on a number of occasions. He's an athletic all rounder with good feet, a powerful shot and the spectacular in his locker. Right footed and often plays from the left. 24 years old, 6 foot tall. Contracted to Torino and spent the season with Rennes, where he scored 11 in 29 league appearances (19 starts). Might be coming good. Not sure if Rennes will buy. Not sure if realistic for us. Exciting player though. Needs the right home.

Khouma Babacar - Another Senegal international in Serie A. 6 foot 3, 26 year old centre forward with good athleticism, a good touch and decent goalscoring pedigree from his time at Fiorentina, when they were doing well. Signed for Sassuolo last summer, where he's not had a great season. Might fancy a move to the PL. Probably more realistic than Niang..... and Zapata.

Firstly... No we're not doing this.
Secondly... I don't know why we are worried about our foreign scouting system. Can't be all that difficult when our very own Ricky can produce a dossier on every single player in the World!

He will go for £40m this summer. He’s not even officially Atalantas I don’t think. He’s there on loan with an agreement to buy for £12m I think the figure is. They will sell him as soon as he signs it unless things have changed with them qualifying for the CL

Is this a joke? He’s linked with the top clubs in the world. Please at least throw his name into google do 1 minute research then think isit worth posting.

Some of you make me laugh 😄

Never heard of this bloke before yesterday. I’m supposed to trawl through the internet to find links to to top clubs that may or may not have substance, then decide whether to post his name or not. It’s a bit of fun during silly season.

We’re still down to only two players in the world that we can afford/are any good then? 😆

He's also got the same initials as Dario Zupavic. So it's a YES from me.

Just googling his name brings up the links to news items about him. It has literally taken one minute to find out he’s linked to West Ham for £45m and some click bait site has him linked to Real.

Who cares? 😄

It’s a rumour mill, bit of fun. That report/rumour may also be complete bollocks. Berahino was going to Spurs/Liverpool for £30m two years or so ago.

Incredible centre forward for an incredible team. Wonder if we can learn from them to bring back the number 10 role perhaps.

Can't we just sign blokes with ordinary names that I've heard of and might have seen play?

No idea, I am more likely to watch Conference football than Italian
Why would that be? In any case Atalanta are the exception and not the rule when it comes to Italian football; Attacking, free flowing and expansion football. Usually tons of goals scored in their games and entertaining to watch from a Neutral perspective.

They've scored 7 goals in at least 3 league games this season, seen them score 5+ a few times too, all whilst playing a similar formation and tactics to us. Very much so worth the watch even if you don't like the rest of the league/defensive football.

Serie A is not a defensive league anymore.

The standard isn't as high as the PL, mainly due to the lower intensity, but for me that often makes the games more enjoyable to watch.

Great title race this year too for a change. Hopefully Lazio do it.

I thought that until I saw Atalanta playing just before Christmas. My first thought was that it reminded me of another team that I know very well. A lot in common and, given that the PL seems to be regarded higher than Serie A these days, we could do a lot worse than to flex our muscles in Atalanta's direction - if we can get into Europe - for a number of their team.
