Anyone notice when Duffy gets subbed United go to shit in midfield. The odd thing is, even when he's having an off day and is subbed, the same thing happens. Methinks he's the pivot in midfield, more so than Fleck and/or Coutts. I reckon there's quite a bit more of him to come next year in spite of his age and supposed lack of higher league pedigree.

I really hope that we give him a chance next season if we are in the championship,he really is a high quality footballer.It was a real coup when Wilder got him to come,i'm pretty sure that he was one of the first names on his list and a little surprising that Clough didn't seem to try that hard to keep him.Unfortunately,we can't do anything about his age and maybe this will be a problem,whatever happens he has been my "player of the season".

Simple really, he always shows for the ball, even when things are not going well. Carruthers was poor tonight when he came on.

He makes a huge difference in the movement and chances we create, I would be gutted if he wasn't used next year.

When Duffy doesn't play you can see a difference in midfield for sure. We missed him on Saturday too. The midfield trio of coutts and fleck and duffy have a great understanding and play some great football together.

Caruthers made a couple of very casual moves and lost possession on the right tonight when all had to do was keep it simple and keep the ball

Carruthers came on when no one was interested in pushing forward to support him. I don't read much into that.

Duffy has been immense for us but I still say we're such a good side all round that we aren't dependent on any one player. We've picked up results when he's been unavailable, and we've scored goals when he's been subbed.

Yep, I'm a big Carruthers fan and was calling for him to come on tonight as Duffy was awful.

However, when the change was made it did make us struggle to retain the ball snd Carruthers was poor tonight.

Duffy frustrates the fuck out of me quite frankly. Yes he's always likely to deliver that killer pass or cross that leads to a goal but when his delivery is bad it's terrible. And he really needs to learn that you don't need to try and beat your man 47 times when a simple pass to someone else in a better position will suffice.

Carruthers looked very nonchalant tonight however. On his day he does good things effortlessly, on a bad day it just looks sloppy and cavalier.

Without reading anyones comments, he had an off day but he makes the midfield tick because he finds pockets of space. The issue for Duffy is he is better with a runner up top such as Done or Lavary. He's very limited with limited movement ahead of him.

Players have off days over the course of a season, I thought the midfield in general were a bit sloppy at times, but seeing as they have been so good over the season, I am not going to complain. JOC was immense tonight and I am glad Freeman scored again, still time to nab a few more goals for both of them before the end of the season. 3 more points.

Two key things about Duffy:

He always gets on the ball, influences play and gets us into good areas, whether his end product is there or not.

He is hardworking and good defensively, and will often win the ball back for us.

Thought Duffy was really shite today. But he still pulls off the pass to Freeman to score & settle everything down, just when it looked like Millwall were gonna try & batter their way back into it.

His attitude & mental strength are first class. He never goes missing. And even when he's not playing well, he always provides 2 or 3 moments of quality.

Duffy is a very clever footballer. He makes the ball stick up top when he picks up the loose balls due to his excellent close control and movement with the ball. You may all think he holds it too long at times , (which he may well do) but the majority of the time he is just waiting for the rest of fleck , lafferty and freeman to make position. He is our ball player. Our killer ball player. He won't get every one correct. His ball to freeman tonight was made to look straight forward. Only players with his mindset and ability can execute it. Without him we don't tick as well.

I think due to age Wilder get alternatives in for both Wright and Duffy. Not replace but have someone else as well. I think Carruthers maybe the one to take Duffys place but he looks heavy and needs a good pre season

Rate Duffy very highly midfield much more energetic and threatening when he's part of the 3, movement excellent, always willing to take the ball and can and does deliver that killer pass, top signing.
