Duffy the forgotten man.

He'll never be forgotten by me. The best thing he could do would be pick up the phone to Wilder, thrash out the whys and wherefores of his exit, apologise for any overstepping of any marks and ask if he'd be welcome back at the club on the condition he works his arse off. Worst case scenario is he becomes a squad player in what seems to be turning out a very respectable season. He might even force his way onto the bench. There's an FA Cup match on the horizon. It's not as if we're lacking examples of where hard work and application can take previously lower league players now is it?

The worst case scenario is that he comes back, works hard but doesn’t get in the team still and starts moaning behind the scenes whilst his fuckwit relatives start tweeting again.

This wouldn't be allowed would it? As he isn't in our named squad of 25 players.

Must be honest I have no idea what his relatives have tweeted ? Is it bad ?

Only problem with him coming back into the squad is that it takes up a spot where we might be looking to strengthen (assuming that we lose 2 or 3 more as well)? This is presuming that my understanding is correct in that we can have a maximum of 25 players.......

If we are bringing in 2-3 players during January I don't see where the squad place would be for him.

Feel no sympathy for him yes he was good and remember goal at sty but, he made his bed thinking bigger than was and now has to lie in it. I ain't got a clue what his family been saying as no idea what Twitter is but sounds like they've done him no favours, plus let's be honest he's 34 knocking on 35 hardly a chabbie.

CBA trawling through the threads. His dad referred to ‘Herr Wilder’ for one and some other stuff and his wife tweeted about him not getting picked or enough game time or something last season, then there was that shit when he posted the team’s running stats.

Not good enough for the Stoke bench = not good enough for us. Hugely instrumental in getting us to the PL and will always have Bouncing Day. I see some similarities with wishing Ched to return to the fold a few years back on the assumption we would still see the talent and performance of days past.

I'd guess that while Wilder won't mind doing Stoke the favour given we are in a position where we can afford to be benevolent he won't see any value in bringing Duffy back into the squad. He'd be loaned out, probably to league one/two level, or be made to train with the kids.

As well as the gobshite behaviour from him and his family on twittter I've heard there were issues in training as well so unless Duffy came back grovelling on his hands and knees its got the potential to seriously undermine Wilder's credibility. We have a midfield 3 that picks itself plus another 3 in reserve. He doesn't fit our current system but even if we were to revert we'd have Freeman in front of him plus the option to bring Didz back there. If we couldn't buy a goal or were in the midst of massive injury crisis I'm sure Wilder would gamble on swallowing his pride but as it stands its simply not worth it.

Wilder's a top, top manager but if it was a choice between Rodwell and the Duff for another squad shirt it wouldn't be Rodwell for me.

We'll never forget THAT goal but we have now moved on and he has to as well - as he intended to do.

The club keeps progressing and players move on - Coutts, Duffy and possible even our Billy into a coaching role with us next season.

Onward ! not Backwards Blades!
