Nauseating bringimback sentimentality. He’s done. We’re way beyond him.

Has anyone here actually posted that they want him back in the squad?

The Pinchyest of Pinchy posts.

I was unaware about the lateness and fines, I'm assuming you were to, as it's only just come up. If this is true, then I will definitely concede that it does the lad no favours, and would be a signal that he at least has some discipline issues.

As for him being talented, yet unable to break into the squad; I dont think that's conformation of any behavioral issues. It could be that he's lacking fitness, it could be that his style doesn't suit our system, it could be that he was brought in to play the no 10 role which has become redundant. There could be a host of reasons, other than attitude why he's not playing.

I guess we will have a more accurate idea of what Wilder thinks of him in January, in the FA cup game. I dont think Wilder would play him if his attitude was in doubt, so if he starts against Flyde, it would indicate that there's still hope for the lad. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

As you appear determined to find a route back for Ravel, let me confirm that the question of fines has been discussed here for a while, so it's hardly something I've just become aware of. Often there's so much that's discussed that the fact that it's not mentioned doesn't suggest it's brand spanking new. Ravel has an excellent chance with an excellent manager, but the onus is on him to get with the program. It's his responsibility to embrace this chance, no one else's.

Somewhere deep inside is a potentially good to great player, but the potential, for that is what it is, continues to be squandered. There's another of the same school currently on trial at United, Rodwell, someone who once had the footballing world at his feet, but somewhere something didn't gel, and no matter who he's played for the potential has never, ever, been realised, and it's this that is the trick that so many seem to miss out on. It's time for Rav to see the world as it is, not as he imagines it to be. I wish the fella well, but I won't be holding my breath in anticipation of what may or may not be about to be revealed.

Not being funny mate, but if you were aware of his fines and lateness all along, I'm curious as to why you never brought it up when I pushed for evidence of his bad behaviour? Mystery.

It's not complicated but I'll spell it out in case you're still mystified.

Certain players carry with them an inordinate amount of baggage, and Ravel happens to belong to this group. The fact that it's a mystery to you is probably down to the fact that you're relatively new to this forum, hence you're not up to speed with the variety of rumours, speculation, and established facts that surround any player.

The fact that you inferred I'd only recently become aware of Ravel's tendency to act as a repeat offender is, of course, incorrect. I hope your state of mystery is now a thing of the past.

I'm not going to continue the exchange. You keep throwing in little barbs, or condescending comments - it's not worth the debate.

My last point was simply that all I originally did was ask if there was any evidence as to his poor behaviour. You could have stopped the conversation then and there by saying "yes, it's well documented he's been often late for training and picked up fines" but instead, here we are.

Lifes to short, enjoy your weekend, up the blades.

LWM ;)

Tbh I had that exact thought this morning. Where it falls down is Fleetwood's ability to cover the same proportion of his wages as Stoke, unless of course that is low.

If the loan is season long, why would Utd agree to end it and end up paying more for him to go elsewhere? It's not as if ensuring he has game time will be an investment for the future, as it would be with a youngster that's gone out on loan.

Surprised at the amount of polarisation on this subject, or maybe not as it seems to be the way on any debate anywhere in the modern day.

I agree that Duffy's time with us has passed. He was a huge part of our rise and a player I will always fondly remember.

His Dad has annoyed me tbh and done the player no favours imho with his type of comment.

We're a team whose sum is greater than all it's parts.

That's not me going all bang average Warnock but it's no coincidence that many of this squad are doing better than they've done in their entire careers, and those who've have left due to being surplus have generally gone backwards.

Duffy peaked with us because of his role. He was obviously a very good player but his career shows his general level over many years.

Watching the shower of shite that is Middlesborough v Stoke City on Sky it does beg the question - "How the hell is Duffy not good enough?"

Not even on the bench. I hope he can find another club for the JTW.

One of Stokes owners took a salary over £300 million last year. Why should we help them out?

Wilder's a top, top manager but if it was a choice between Rodwell and the Duff for another squad shirt it wouldn't be Rodwell for me.
That isn't a choice though

One is a short arse left footed playmaker / winger. The other is a right footed 6' 2" defender/ defensive midfielder.

My choice of avatar speaks to my views on Duffy, but I'm guessing that for Wilder the door has closed on this one.

I suspect we won't. This is local paper talk. It's really up to Duffy's agent to get him a final contract of 2/3 years somewhere. His record of helping teams get out of league 1 is very impressive and I'd guess that is his best chance now.

Until not very long ago he was my favourite player, the one who made us tick. Showed fantastic quality at times. If he hadn't made that stupid decision to confront Wilder he would still be here now making cameo appearances and getting rave reviews for his ball retention and forward passes into the box. What a football career tragedy for the guy and sad to see how some are ready to knock him so quickly. The Blades train has left the station but I for one would cheer him to the rafters if he ever came back with another team. Sincerely hope he can turn things round.

Makes me sad to see how our fans have so little respect for one of the greatest players we’ve seen in decades.

Duffy has been a lower league journeyman and made less money than any of our players. He’s also the wrong age with little chance to make enough money from the game to secure his future.

His agent has probably advised him to strike whilst the iron was hot. He was our only creative outlet last season so probably felt he had some negotiating power. Fortunately McGoldrick has shown that he can also do a kind of Duffy role.

If I ever saw Mark Duffy I’d buy him a drink and thank him. You can bet if Wilder loses a few or joins a bigger club some of our fans will be slagging off Wilder.

Sorry mate ….. he did great for the Club but lost all respect he earned when he tried to play "billy big boots" and then disrespected the Club. He made his bed …. now he has to lie in it ...

UTB & FTP

We don’t want Duffy back and we don’t want to help Stoke out. We, and probably every club in the football pyramid, are stuck with players that are contracted but not wanted. Duffy is now on Stoke City’s unwanted list.

Superb for us for a couple of years, take my hat off, but I’m pretty sure we won’t get sentimental about it.

Since Wilder’s arrival, the club have offered new contracts based on performances. This has been a theme throughout his tenure and is not foolproof for example with Leon and maybe yet with Lunny. Quite why Duffy felt he was the one to circumvent this approach only he knows. Perhaps he was poorly advised.

Think Burton could be on the cards as well. Local club and didn't we sign him from there?
I can't see Burton and negative Nigel wanting him back even if he was once one of Burton's best players, maybe we have seen the reason Burton let him go last time. I really cannot understand all the fuss and hand wringing from our fans over Duffy and his predicament he chose to leave SUFC and it might sound harsh but fuck him we don't owe him anything. His best years were with SUFC no one to blame other than himself if he finds himself back in the lower leagues wasting his talent.

Agree, realistically he should be aiming for lower Championship or upper L1 level now for his next permanent move if he can get one.

I don't think he'd be given a 2 or 3 year contract at 34 though, more like a 1 year deal with a view to another if he performs well enough.

Didn’t Clough bomb him out after they won promotion, not long after Clough replaced JFH? At the time he said it was because he didn’t like him commuting from Liverpool. Maybe he just didn’t like him?

Don't think Nigel likes most players does he to be honest thats the impression I get.

His contract expired with Brum when on loan with Burton and had just won promotion, thats when he was free to sign with us so yeah they weren't that bothered about bringing him back when they were in a league above us.
