Duffy the forgotten man.

Don't think Nigel likes most players does he to be honest thats the impression I get.

His contract expired with Brum when on loan with Burton and had just won promotion, thats when he was free to sign with us so yeah they weren't that bothered about bringing him back when they were in a league above us.
He did well enough to get an offer from Championship Barnsley which makes me think it wasn’t a purely football based decision

I don’t think Clough doesn’t like most players, there are clearly quite a few he does like because he keeps signing them. He signed several he’d worked with before for us and has repeated that at Burton with Brayford, Buxton, K Wallace etc. I suspect he’s a pretty good judge of character. Duffy has never stayed at a club for a long time, I don’t think that’s down to his ability.

A very poor Middlesboro' team racked with injuries and stacked with teenager wannabees saw off a pathetic Stoke City outfit last night; the locals couldn't quite believe it, and I can't quite believe I stuck with the match after that 1st half surpassed anything as bad as I've seen in quite a while. If Mark Duffy ain't good enough to get into that Stoke team then there's something seriously wrong with either him or the Stoke management team. World's gone mad.....

They’re a toxic club. It turns out that whilst on the surface they appeared to be a well run club, they were very dependent on Pulis and once he’d gone, they were exposed. Their recruitment strategies in terms of both management and players have been flawed.
And they continue to make questionable decisions. Why would you appoint Nathan Jones, a man with no experience of managing in the championship and who wasn’t in charge of recruitment? (That was Mick Harford).
As owners of Bet365 you’d think they understood the principle of ‘if you’re losing heavily, stop gambling, don’t gamble some more in the hope you’re going to change your luck’.

Diffy is like any other player. If you can afford to upgrade, you do. If you can’t, you don’t. We can and did. Bringing him back would serve no purpose to improve the squad we already have. There are younger, fitter, better options available. So thanks to him for his service, but no thanks to his return.

Duffy was a great player for us. Maybe the system suited him, maybe the players around him brought the best out of him, or maybe he just peaked as a player, but he was great value-for-money during his time here.

Whatever went wrong behind the scenes, there is no changing that, it seems to have permanently soured the relationship.

Mrs G bought me the United photo book, "Our Time" (another great book from Danny Hall) for Christmas, the rise to promotion to the Prem.

All the players have their own section, including Duffy, and I read that part with a hint of sadness. It would have been better for all parties if we had just sold him somehow, rather than this situation (of his own doing), where he gets loaned out and not even used.

Could he do the Dack role, now that Dack is injured?

Anyway, as always, it's "thanks for the memories Mark Duffy", he was part of the whole incredible story that started with the appointment of Chris Wilder and Alan Knill.

GLTTL and UTB.

Get him up to Fleetwood and let him link up with Coutts again. They just need some Coventry “reject” that their genius fans don't rate, and they can rule League One again.

When we sign players from the lower leagues they get the biggest contract they have ever had. Then they get to the PL and look at what other PL players are on. We can’t afford that, apart from a handful who have been royally looked after, Jagielka in particular. If we aren’t very careful, this could become a problem. Duffy was not on a PL salary.

Never will be

Thanks for the memories Duff.

However, like has been said, he's never spent long anywhere and there's been rumours of issues before last summer.

If true then not difficult to see where it comes from.

The ship has sailed.

From Nixon:
Stoke. Duffy also wanted elsewhere. Sheff U midfielder. Blackpool checking out possibility.

Oh how the mighty, nearly immortal, have fallen. You thick scouse cunt.

Odd comment about Tyler Smith on Baldock’s Instagram post...

Tongue in cheek joke or bitter comment?
