We’re clearly missing Coutts as a team but Duffy seems to be suffering more than most. Not sure why but has been very ordinary for the last couple of months, not a patch on his previous form.

I’d disagree that he’s been ordinary. Even last night he was showing for the ball, taking it on the turn and looking to make things happen. Just don’t think he had much movement. He did a couple of really nice deft little flicks in behind but nobody continued their run.

I think Duffy has been playing well but I thought he didn't look as sharp last night. I know he was doubtful for the game dring the week so I wonder if he wasn't fully fit

We are all missing Coutts it’s his speed of thought and pass brought about by his ability to control the ball immediately, Lundstram good player just not as quick as Coutts it slows our attacks and he’s very predictable. On his plus side he’s strong wins a lot of challenges and is giving his all. We need Brooks back ASAP to unlock defences.
I think Ricky Holmes might be the answer excellent shot on him from out side the box , awaiting with anticipation

He's consistently been our best player all season, by some considerable distance as well. As far from 'ordinary' in any recent game as it is possible to be actually.

Duffy has really good this season, but dont forget other teams are getting wise to us and marking him more often etc. I agree, Coutts had the intelligence to find Duffy when in space - I noticed a few times last night Duffs had found a good position and nobody released the ball early enough to him. Coutts would have done.

Ahh that must be why Duffy played aimless balls back to their keeper and played shite balls all over.

In a few games recently Duffy hasn’t seen or has ignored plenty of runs in behind down the flanks. Both wingbacks and wide centre backs made good runs but Duffy took another touch and looked inside for someone. He’s not the only one, almost everyone seems to be doubting their ability to play those passes that we were making for fun earlier in the season, but as Duffy is the main supplier of such passes it’s more noticeable that he’s not doing it at the moment.

Couldn’t disagree with this more. Duffy had a poor game last night but that’s probably his worse performance of the season and he’s been putting in MOTM performances before that. He’s allowed one poor game I think!

If one player’s missing Coutts it’s definitely Fleck. I think him missing 3 games through suspension hasn’t helped but he doesn’t look quite as confident with Lundstrum as he did with Coutts. He’s still head and shoulders our best and most important player though.

Did you not watch the Sunderland game?

Are you one of those fooled by the Sunderland game?

That team who are STILL probably the worst in this division, even after the bounce of a new manager?

Some of us aren't.

The TEAM misses Coutts and it was obvious to some in the days after the Burton game that this would be the case.

Is it 1 win in 10 or 11 now?

There is also a very good reason why we have 2 relative (for us) 2 expensive Central midfield players now at the club.

As is Moore, Bash, Stearman, JOC, Baldy, Enda, Fleck Sharp etc etc.

I have come to the conclusion, and discussing last night, our play off chances came to an end that fateful night at Burton.

I agree that he played well against Sunderland - and see what a difference it made to the result! In the same way that we have players who are criticised however well they play, we have some who escape criticism, even when they play poorly.

The fans are missing him too.

The couttsy song was this years Jack O’Connells Magic and has been sung constantly especially away.

It hasn’t took off when it’s been sung since his injury and atmosphere has gone flat as the results have been frustrating.

Couldn’t disagree more! Last night he and pretty much all of the team were not at it (Moore the exception) - he’s been our best most creative player for me. UTB’s

Disagree I think Duffy has been one of our more consistent performers, not at his best against them piggies last night but all in all he’s had a top season to date!

The pigs focused on keeping Duffy quiet I can't remember how many times he received the ball with two or three pigs ready to run him over.
It was the same with Fleck I still can't believe he survived that vicious tackle from that pig brained Wallace.

19 games left yet .. long way to go

Both Bolton and Wendy have now successfully man marked him out of the last two home games. That’s when we need other options on the pitch to negate this tactic.

Holmes looks the ideal solution.

That is all.

Think Fleck is missing him too. He looks indecisive some of the time and doesn't know whether to stay, go, pass, dribble...

I'm hoping Leonard/Evans can bring some va va voom back to our best player!!

Don't get all this missing Coutts stuff, its like a 5 year old still asking for its dummy, move on, life changes.

OP has been smoking something good.

Have you watched any of our football recently?

Duffy has been outstanding.
So, for instance, you thought he was outstanding last night? Great ball to Baldock, great free kick second half that we should have scored from - what else did he do? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that he’s suddenly become a bad player but, Sunderland aside, I don’t think that he’s played well in recent matches and independent player ratings would support that view. I look forward to his return.

You're right if you mean there's nothing we can do about it but utterly wrong if you mean we're not missing him.

We've gone from top of the league to relegation form in the time he's been missing.

With respect I disagree, for some reason the loss of Coutts has coincided with a now reluctance to get decent balls in early enough without fannying around to cause a problem and give strikers a chance. Coutts was not often the one to play the killer pass and whilst he had a few assists my recollection is its only a small fraction of goals we scored. We have rose tinted spectacles, the problem is elsewhere or we would have been doing better by now. .
