CONFIRMED Duffy joins Stoke City on loan

Says it all that I'm reading the thread on their forum and getting all pissed off that they aren't sufficiently excited/grateful. Someone just posted the Wednesday goal.

I'm sorry, but I really don't see your point.

He didn't ask for a new deal to get loaned out. He's being loaned out as he's in the dog house for asking for a new deal.

The point I made in my initial post was that a loan doesn’t make sense, whereas a transfer would.

If it is only a loan move he can get then he’s really shot himself in the foot as he’s in the exact same position contract wise but playing in lower league.

Shame if he goes. Been watching United a long time and the Duff is one of the best out and out footballers to have played at the Lane.
Hope we don't end up regretting this one and hope he does well at Stoke if he ends up there.

Brilliant

Brilliant

True isn't it. One of those players you just instinctively enjoyed watching whenever he got the ball which he'd normally bring under instant control. Great at keeping possession, didn't panic, could spot a clever pass, could drift by a man with ease and scored some great goals (was the last one against Forest - if it was, what a crucial goal and what a great goal).
Bit of 'player crush' for me and it's a shame he's not going to be around.

Sad if true about a move to Stoke, one of the most influential players during the Wilder years an a crowd favourite (then again, the whole team/squad was I guess).

Hoping that everything is amicable between him and the club (I assume so, with him being in the Hallam FC game).

Gone :(

POTTERS SEAL DUFFY DEAL
Stoke City
have completed the loan signing of Mark Duffy from Sheffield United.

I still think we might regret this. Presumably, just for the cost of his wages.

No real choice though, I guess. He was always unlikely to start most games and wanted more money. The fact this isn't the first time he's been a dick behind the boss' back hardly stands in his favour.

Possibly the most important player in us getting here so I'll always be thankful. GLTLL

So that’s that then.

1 yr loan sees out his Blades contract.

Another 33% of THAT Midfield departs. Forever.

All that remains for me to say is thank you Mark Duffy. Thank you so so much. Wonderful footballer, universally adored by all Blades fans (no mean feat is that 😉).

Really hope you have enjoyed your time here, but all good things come to an end, and sometimes divorces aren’t amicable. As fans, we really shouldn’t hold that against ya 👍.

Sincere best wishes for the remainder of your career 👏👏👏.

On one hand this is obviously a shame but at the same time, for me, his relationship with the club has been soured by his apparent greed. GLTTL, but I only have so much sympathy.

That's the sad part about this, because it appears that it's ended with somewhat of a disagreement/fall out. I also think it's crackers that he's ended up at Stoke rather than staying out with us and playing in the PL, albeit as a squad player. He's only gone on loan to Stoke meaning he's not, presumably, earning anymore than his deal with us, and he's not got a longer deal. Maybe its all that could be achieved at this late stage and there was no way back at United.

Wish him all the best and he'll always be a favourite of every Blade.

Apparent greed being the key words. No one can honestly say to me, with him moving on loan to Stoke City, that he’ll be getting more money, some people need to have a think about what they say before they slag the duffmeister off. He’s been integral to us been where we are now, he isn’t greedy as he’s dropped divisions to play football many times before.

Good luck Duffy, you deserve it.

What's the point in regretting something you had no choice in?

Duffy or the club, the club comes first.

I'm sad and angry that he's gone but we won't regret it. We might miss him at times, but we did the right thing.
