Get the fucking lot of em wearing the tarmac off Shiregreen Hill till they can all do bleep test to high levels.

Bring in two new defenders with rapid pace. One at CB, other as either a RB or LB. Work on defensive organisation for as long as it takes to get it right. We HAVE to build a solid defensive platform before we can even contemplate improving the attack. A few Nil Nils would, at this stage, be a good target to work to.

Agree an extended loan deal for Coady and pair him in CM with someone other than Doyle. Coady IS a class act at this level but its difficult to see this with confidence as low as our lasses baps.

We need to spend on a quality and proven striker to partner Taylor up top. This is not Marlon King so don't kid yourself that it is. Callum Wilson ticks lots of the required boxes (As we all know). There are others. If it takes £1m+, pay it. We should be in a position financially now to be able to do this.

Its no where near over as there are 105 points up for grabs. But we ARE bottom of Div 3 and so a turnaround in fortunes needs to happen soon.

Shore up the fucking defence.

personally i'd take collins doyle and flynn out the back and put them against a tree.. agree about coady.. he looks tidy

We need someone with pace alongside Maguire and McMahon back in the defence.
Stick McGinn in the midfield for Doyle and let Cody hold
Give Taylor a few starts.

The rest I think will come together after this

For me whats required is drop of the central defenders, bring in a CB on loan and drop Doyle for Mcginn and partner him with Coady in the middle and if possible i'd just ask Coventry to name their price for the front two. it's a ready made strike force to help fire us up the league a little.

And where do we buy these proven goalscorers from? The transfer window is currently shut, and proven goalscorers tend to cost a lot of money. It's easy to identify what we need, but actually getting players goes a long way beyond just wanting them. We couldn't persuade Coventry to sell us a striker in August.

I agree the side needs overhauling. I just wonder where these players will be found.

They are out there (Or will be in 12 weeks time).

Time to invest in the squad again after years of asset stripping (out of necessity and not meant to be a dig at McCabe, so please don't turn it in to another McCabe bashing thread).

Personally I would go all out for Sharp when his loan at Reading finishes. Would cost a fortune (relatively speaking) and we would have to make him top earner in club by a mile, but with the likes of Collins and Doyle shown the door (in theory), this should free up enough wages to satisfy FFP.

Convincing him to come (or someone equivalent) without prospect of potential play off place might prove difficult.

Agree completely with every single word of that, Dronnie.

Coady was excellent in the second half today (he was our best player first half too) and a partnership between him and McGinn as the two anchor midfielders would suit me. Whilst I don't enjoy singling players out for criticism, Doyle was woeful today and was at fault for both goals first half. He didn't track Clarke's run when he was stood at the side of the big lump five seconds before he scored and he let Baker get away too easy to cross for the second. The game changed with McGinn and he has to start against Port Vale IMO.

We also saw today a flash of quality from Lyle Taylor (what a lovely header) and I think we need to persevere with the lad for a few games. He's got the energy and the desire, something I don't think we can say about King, for now they are important traits even if he might not be as prolific as King. We also need to keep Ryan Hall around for a couple more months as he, despite being hit and miss, looks like he might be settling in now.

King collins doyle , all too pedestrian , we were up against a young side , with pace and looked miles off the pace , won no headers , passed appalingly and in 45 minutes didnt force their keeper to break sweat. they added amother gift as we watched them drift in unchallenged for a third , then , 3 changes of personnel changed the games direction .
We looked a different side , at last we posed problems , in the end could have got the unlikliest of draws, the back four still nearly gifted 2 more away , but we looked to carry a threat, codey should have buried the header but from being totally impotent we had transformed into the makings of a team

From looking hopeless we saw some hope, got no reward , but theres a seed of way forward been planted

How about we send them to Shiregreen Hill and start with this speech:

There is only one of you who is likely to play regularly for a club bigger than Sheffield United. The rest of you need to prove yourselves here if you want to be footballers. You will all be running up and down this hill until I am satisfied you want to play for us. Anyone who does not want to play for us, sit in the reserves until January when you'll drop a division and play for someone else.

I expect the first 5 who are off the hill to be: Coady, Brandy (God i feel sorry for him, bet he's regretting signing), Maguire, Hill (yes seriously) and Taylor.

The rest of you keep running until you realise this is as good as your careers are going to get. Hill is not one of our best players but at least he looks like he wants it. That first 45 was the worst I have ever seen us play (I don't go every week).

The first half was one of the worst performances I've seen in my 20+ years as a Blade. We were pathetic.

Swapping a striker (King) for another central midfielder at 3-0 down took some bollocks, but credit to Morgan, it worked and helped us take command of the game. It also showed that 4-5-1 can sometimes help you create more than a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1.

Great to see Taylor scoring twice, and McGinn looked determined to show what he can do. Coady also did well. But despite some individual positives, it's difficult to know if the second half is something we can 'build on' though.

We'll have a new boss and a new style again next week. Will he avoid making the same poor assessments that made things so difficult for Weir?

Just watched the game in my local; I'm loathe to make a judgement from just watching the game on telly but the defending looked abysmal. My mates, in between ripping the piss out of the general standard of English football, made what I think is a valid point, that our lads looked completely and utterly lacking in self-confidence. How they get that back I don't know but we aren't going to win any games by being so wide open at the back.
The other point was about sacking the manager, the general feeling being that if you employ a rookie manager you have to give him more than ten games. We are bottom of the third division, having sacked a succession of managers. The new man will have to deal largely with the same set of players and if we do go down presumably whoever is in charge by then will also be sacked. Who the fuck would want the job?

I am not Doyle's biggest fan but you are way off the mark there

1st goal..the ball was given away by Collins,Westlake didn't close down properly and Collins lost Clarke.

2nd goal- Doyle slipped...Coady was slow to pick up Wilson .Long slow to react

3rd goal. Collins stood watching as Clarke made his run

Hmmm. Watch the replay. Clarke was clever in that he didn't rush headlong into the box, he hung back and was stood at the side of Doyle 5 seconds before he scored. Clarke ran into the space to finish, Doyle stood admiring him. The SKY replay from behind Coventry's goal looking headlong onto it was telling.

As for the second, well, Doyle ended up on his arse while Coventry scored a goal. It was too easy. I think you're being harsh on Long who I felt had no chance with it, good finish from Wilson.

Doyle was garbage but the first goal was not his fault.

Clarke was Collins man and he lost him as he did all game. Westlake also was nowhere near enough close to his man.

Doyle was beat easily on the second goal and one of those to blame but a lot happened after. Noone reacted to the danger and tried to cover and then as the cross came over no one went to Wilson and he scored unopposed. The third was pathetic by most of the team. The ball got into a forward position way too easy. Westlake let his man run off him and got in a bad position. Collins was woeful yet again as Clarke just ran off him.

Doyle was poor most of the game but the weak link for the whole side was clearly the two centre backs for me whatever lack of protection they got they looked for the beating every time. Collins and Maguire were comfortably our worst players I felt with Hill not far behind.

Why the hell would they want to come to a pile of crap that is SUFC at the moment?

Hello.
We are bottom of the third division.
We are now adrift by one point.
Hello.

What makes you think Billy Sharp would come here?

Hello.

What makes you think Billy Sharp would come here?

The big fat pile of shiny Saudi cash. Greed. A pesky agent. The new manager? The weather?

It's definitely the money.

The league is the problem.

Agreed. But the Reading loan is only till Jan. Which means he will need something until at least end of season. If no other decent offers are on the table ...........

We'll still be in League One, so unless he has a sudden change of heart, we'll still not be an option

If they've a problem with the league I'm sure they can get over that problem with a big bag full of Saudi moolah. Offer them enough money and they'll dance naked down Fargate with a goose under each arm. They're footballers. Footballers are basically thick whores in polyester. They'll play pretty much anywhere for the right money and loyalty can go fuck itself.

In the case we're talking about, loyalty isn't the issue, money isn't the issue, the league is.

Which means, utterly ridiculous bag fulls or not being in this league.

any sane person would know things in football can change enormously over 2 months, yes we are bottom a full one point adrift , but 4 wins on the bounce , and your on the cusp of the play offs

its happened before , big clubs make horific starts then turn it round , we have 105 points left to play for and over 6 months to turn it round

all thats needed is the right man , right being the one who instils belief

no one really knows who will fit , its suck it and see, but it was good they identified it wasnt Weir
