:drunk:With the influx of new members from B U , it would be interesting to find out where you all go for that pre match tipple when visiting BDTBL, we all know that the Golden Lion is the favourite for Linz and the s24su crew, For me on a visit to the lane its The Queens Road social club , cheep beer , fast bar staff and a chance to meet up with some good blades friends . wiil be making the trip up to sheffield on friday , so its the queens pre match for me & mrs essex:thumbup:

im originally from woodthorpe so know the pubs in woodhouse quite well, and im still a member of the west end club!!

Crown on Chesterfield Road for me. Used to go in the Golden Lion but was fed up with the bar battles trying to get served.

You can get served easily in the Crown and its only 20 mins walk from ground which the bladder will just about allow.

The Cremorne. I like a nice pint of hand-pull, and that's where me and my old man have always gone before a match.

White Lion for me, it would be the Sheaf View but we have minors in our party.

Used to go to the Cremorne, but got fed up with it being closed by Police (pre post match)/ No landlord/ No beer etc. The final straw was when they ran out of lager and they nipped to the offy and poured cans into pint pots and still charged full price!

Went to the Golden Lion all last season and apart from Cardiff trying to come up the road it was trouble free. It gets stacked at the bar, but the pumps are uber fast and you get served quickly.

If i do go to the pub before a game i'm usually in there with family/family friends.

The Cremorne used to be my choice of pre-match boozer, but since the pub changed hands about two years ago the beer has been, frankly, piss.

Nowadays it's the Lion and play safe with the lager.

Drive up, then usually meet up at the Pomona (although its been a bit hit or miss last season) then sometimes down somewhere closer for a last one before kick off.

I used to go n the Sheaf for years with my dad, bt since he passed away myself, the missus and all my dads mates go in the Earl, were the losers that play cards on the raised part when you walk in (i'm 24 and I play cards with a bunch of 50-odd year olds... is that sad?)

Shakespeare in Heeley for me, however if its a night match varsity, earl then shakespeare

Sportsman. Sorted.

Used to go the Shakespeare in the late 70s for the darts and the cheese and onion sandwiches with black dog - the latter being a culture shock for me at the time.

In years gone by, it was a few pints of Wards in the Matilda (when the landlady Val was usually pissed), then came a time in the wilderness when there was never time for a beer before matches.

Then it became the Cricketers for a few friendly jugs of Pimm's - let's face it, there was hardly ever any beer in there - before moving along to the Sheaf, and now we've settled outside the Lion ..... albeit late ;)

Depends what time we get into sheffield but usually involves some of these: Old Queens Head, Bankers Draft, Old Monk, Rutland, Red Lion, Roebuck, Nelson, Devonshire Cat, Cremorne and occasionally call in the Golden Lion
