Dovydas Sasnauskas is the latest youngster to head out for senior experience, joining National League North side Buxton on an initial one-month

Other than Maguire, I can't think of many centre halves who have come through the ranks to become first teamers over the years. Strange one

Gary West, Brian Smith, Tony Kenworthy and Steve Faulkner!
Brian Smith was just before my time attending matches but he looks decent on the videos which is all I have to go on, out of interest how good was he? I know he had a bad injury and had to quit sadly.

Quick and a good defender. After marking Vince Hilaire out of a game gained the nickname of The Locksmith.

Ben Doane? Another whose injury killed his career. Could have been a solid centre half with a bit of time.

I guess in some ways we also don't want too many places being taken up in U21s as means other players getting less game time?!

He was good, very quick but a bit on the small side for a centre back although he had a good leap on him. Lived next door to my mum and dad.

He was quick and had good anticipation. Good with the ball on his feet but not really dominating in the air, Bassett brought in Steve Thompson to partner Paul Stancliffe and Smith was moved to right back.

Was at the game when he broke his leg, heard the bone snap even thought I was stood on the kop 80 yards away.

I thought Brian Smith was very good. I also thought Colin Hill was very good. The caveat is, I was 10-years-old, so in reality both may have been shite

My mate is a Buxton supporter and goes to the matches apparently Diego is ripping it up in their division

Which game was it against? I remember being there but can't recall who it was against. Ar first I thought it was Mansfield away but then remembered that was Simon Webster who broke his leg badly in an early FA Cup tie at Field Mill (drew 1-1). I was at that one too on the ancient terracing behind the goal.

He's progressed really well over the last year having made the step up from under 18s to the development side. He's solid, dependable and calm under pressure. Certainly one of the stand out players.

Dovy is so close to Davy as a name, the lad is also a centre half. He’s going to get some tough comparisons to deal with, let’s hope he rises to them!
