Don't blame Blackwell

How many times have you seen us this season? We're not a winning team. We're a team bereft of tactics who have managed to win by sheer luck. Once the luck runs out, what happens then?

I don't get to go often as I live in the wrong country, but just add up the points and look at how many other teams have more wins than us in this league - not many - so yes we are a winning team. Unfortunately most of our losses are happening at home so the fans are let down BUT I would sooner be stuck in a playoff position and worry about staying there rather than being stuck in mid-table looking down like last year. If we put on another late run who knows where we will end up. I have seen them play and we win cause they are bloody good players. Luck helps, if I still lived there I would follow them round the country everywhere. Great team, still believe we are more than good enough to go up.

I have to agree.

Apart from the win over QPR I don't think we have put in a convincing home performance since.

Yes this is the only game this season that I would say was a good win/performance(QPR).
Also apart from Hendo, does anybody know the average height of our front players? Is it about 5 feet? Not exactly going to score many headers between now and the end of the season are we?

What’s the point in being in the play off's if we can’t win big games?

Ok if we hold out dose any one think we have a hope in hell of winning through the play off playing like that?

Suppose by sheer luck we did every game in the prem is a big game then what?

id sooner see us get the ball down play to our strengths and finish just below sign some good players and try win automatic next season with a team capable of playing at the highest level.

No one wants to see us beaten every week

The worrying thought is, even if by some miricle we did make the premiership, I highly doubt Mccabe would allow a big enough budget to bring in that callibre of player. Blackwell is not adaptable tactics wise, so he also would struggle against attacking teams.

I wasn't getting at you for not making it to many games - God knows you do well to get to any, living in an entirely different continent! - but the results and the stats really only tell half of the story. The fact of the matter is, that we've not been playing well, and that our position is something of a false one - based on a lot of luck and things going our way. Once the luck runs out - which it looks like it is doing, the Southampton game aside - we don't have anything else to fall back on. There isn't a plan B, just more of the same - which not only looks ugly, but doesn't win games unless you have the vital ingredient of luck.

To be honest, at the moment it would in some ways be better to be in mid table, because then at least the Club and Radio Sheffield couldn't use the position as a catch-all argument for any criticism that the fans might make. I wonder what Blackwell's excuses will be as the inevitable slip down the table takes place? You can't defend clueless, one-dimensional football when it doesn't work - and believe me, it certainly isn't working at the moment.

If the unbelievable happened and we ended up winning the playoffs, make no mistake, we'd be embarrassed week after week in the Premiership. I've never seen a Blades team so directionless, and so lacking in spine, in my life, and the fact that we're currently sitting one win above seventh place - a berth currently occupied by arguably one of the best footballing sides in the division - offers scant solace to me, I'm afraid.

I do get where you're coming from. If I'd been to the lane and seen almost as many lost games as won, and lose the ones we really wanted to win, I'd be frustrated. But I do not buy the notion that we do not have a talented team. With injuries and adjusting tactics it can lead to inconsistencies, and the football is not a lot different than NW. I am just not prepared to give up on them yet or believe they are not capable (team and manager) of doing better.

After the Donny match our Kev said people didn't do as he asked..fair enough BUT why are they in the team for the next match? Surely as a manager if the, let's face it, overpaid players don't do as asked then you drop them. IMO that's where a quality manager shows his stuff, Ferguson has dropped some big names when they didn't do as he asked or stepped out of line and all the players at man u know that so they toe the line.

We have some good players and had a hell of a lot of good luck but we also have
No direction
No team
No motivation
No self belief
No confidence
And absolutely NO TACTICS other the kick it as high and far away as possible
Were a f*cking joke and unless there’s a change we will end in mid table

The performance yesterday was totally shite and very poor. Bryan Robson was hounded out for similar performances. Our movement off the ball and creating space was absolute cack yesterday. We had a rare attack in the 2nd half and I was screaming for the united player to move towards the corner flag and give an option for our player and it did'nt happen and we lost possession instantly. What do they do in training all week? We just look like we don't know how to run and take a defender on. I was sarcastically shouting "Kenny's on pass it back" we were that clueless.
What pisses me off is during the credit crunch the players will all go home in their big 4x4's to their big houses while we all skint ourselves paying for Hull tickets.

Everyone who knows me in the real world knows that I'm actually a pessimistic, miserable bugger. I suppose it's part of the reason why I try and defend a lot of stuff on here from the firing squads. When push comes to shove, there are only so many places in the division for winners, and obviously, most won't fill them .......

....... but I have to agree with this. I really can't defend an awful lot of how the team is(n't) working as a unit. I can't comment on the away games as I can't get to many, but at home we have been dreadful in the main, and one-dimensional doesn't even begin to describe it. It's one of the reasons why I get so angry and frustrated when people single out players for paticular vitriol.

Crap performances aren't down to an individual, but the team as a whole.

Well, it is the obvious defence though. Granted, so much has gone our way for us to be there (four consecutive wins against very poor opposition took us from 8th to 4th, lest it be forgotten)., but the fact is we are there. For how long though remains to be seen ......

To revert to type, a lot of people thought that when St Neil was in charge (not me though). I have to agree though, we're much worse than when we went up last time.

I have, and in this Division too. The difference is that those sides were relegated. That won't happen this season.

I have to say I share the sentiment.

I feel sorry for Blackwell appointed to a job he is not up to........

McCabe when will you learn the cheap as chips option doesn't work.

Cash in and fuck off !

I agree with you but I do think Blackwell is to blame for us playing shit every week.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he is necessarily the right man to take this club forward but there is only so much the man can do. He cannot make every pass or tackle. OK, he is there to guide us and his tactics leave a lot to be desired but the team itself is not performing and I appreciate people will say Blackwell is responsible for this but his actions and gestures on the touch line appear to resemble similar cries from the majority of the crowd.

I sit nowhere near the dugouts so couldn't defend this claim but maybe it isn't just his fault?

ok but do you think he could please pick some wingers and tell the players nicely to pass in on the ground, and perhaps if its not too much trouble sub off players that aren’t playing well :D

Isn't it a contradiction to criticise the height (or lack of it) and want us to play with wingers, typically responsible for air-born crosses into the box?

And the reference to passing it nicely on the ground, we can only hope jose

gosh your irritating obviously you haven’t got a clue about football and I cant be bothered to go to the effort to explain how wingers create chances from all mid field go on happy clapper tell me what you think and give me a laugh

So why didn't you apply for the post when it was vacant Mourinho?

Happy clapper? Hmmm. Original? Correct?
No.

UTB

Yep. Thought I'd leave it free for some genius like you. Who knows we might be playing in the Champions League by now. Mind you that probably still wouldn't be adequate for a club with our 'ambition'

And what managerial experience have you had brain wave playing champ manager?

You already showed your self up saying wingers won’t help short strikers score.

when did i complain of lack of hight style of play maybe.

I’m sure your here for the agro and your not in my league.

So like I said give me a laugh and tell me what changes you’d make .

gosh your irritating
Pot, may I introduce you to kettle?
And what managerial experience have you had brain wave playing champ manager?
Just because someone has a different opinion to yourself doesn't mean that it's wrong.

I’m sure your here for the agro and your not in my league.
And if you simply want shooting down in flames like a Messerschmitt over Kent than there are many on here who will cheerfully oblige. So play nice.

Well I'm glad to see that we've got to the kindergarten level again.

In't bickering fun.
Depends who they want to bicker with. It seems it's more fun than spelling, or indeed any attempt at grammar or punctuation.

Gentlemen.

This forum is set up for everyone to have their say and I will defend their right to say it as long as their say is within our rules.

If you cannot be respectful to someone else's opinion, then this forum is not the place for you.

HERE is a reminder of the standards we expect. Any more and there will be infractions.

Another reminder: three infractions lead to a one-week ban. A further infraction on top of this means you are banned forever. An infraction for racism counts as three separate infractions and is an instant one-week ban.

Just so we're clear
