The people who are supposed to be trying to find a manager, now, it would be nice to hear something from them. Just for a change.

Fleets, my beef before we get to that point is the shambolic way they've managed the process.
They set themselves up to look stupid.
The most important decision for years and they haven't got a fucking clue how to even control the process without looking like dicks.
Our chief executive gets paid £250,000 a year for this shambles.

Shambles??? The club have made it very clear what's been going on. The only shambles has been due to the speculation in the press and amongst the fans. Are you seriously saying that the club should control us and the media? This is Sheffield, not <insert a totalitarian state of your choice>.

The only way to have stopped the speculation would have been to have appointed a manager within moments of Speed leaving, then they'd have been accused of rushing it.

It might be frustrating for us having to wait, but we'll find out soon after it happens.

I bet you're the sort of person that opens his presents before Christmas Day because he's too excited to wait. So hang on until the big day just this once.

Its all been speculation on our (fans), media and Doncaster Rovers part. Again you do not know how any talks have gone between the board, S'OD or any other potential manager. So how the hell does that rank as stupidity my friend??

Spot on. Let's be honest, if that was the sort of statement we'd put out about our manager there'd be mass hysteria on our messageboards. The care they've taken to craft those words, and absence of anything saying he doesn't want the job, means this is still very much moving. Perhaps Donny just want this resolved one way or another and are annoyed at the amount of time it's taking to clarify whether he's staying or going - that will undoubtedly be disruptive to the Donny squad.

I would say that's exactly the way it should have been done with 4 crucial games coming up. The team under Carver rolls on with minor disruption and the club do what everyone wanted them to do, take their time and go through a proper interview process behind the scenes to make sure the right man is appointed.

Lenners,we might not have interviewed him and might not be intereased in him......maybe SUFC haven't approached him(or Donny)...maybe they feel Donny is his limit and couldn't cope with the demands of a larger club similar to Peter Taylor,Dario Gradi,Danny Wilson and so on. The point is we don't know as ,rightly,SUFC have kept quiet apart from one statement at the beginning of the process.....no names,an approx time period,profile of the manager they would prefer.

You are getting annoyed because SUFC haven't said anything since the initial statement.i.e. they don't want to add to John Ryan's PR campaign and he will look a tit if it turns out that we have not approached SOD in the first place.

Fans cried out for us to interview potential managers and take our time to find who they feel is the right person to take the club forward. Believe it not,the choice,whoever it is,will be met with critisism from some fans who believe they know better.

Some fans aren't actually convinced SOD is the right man,some do but it doesn't mean the the Board are cocking up in some way because you percieve them to be not doing the things that you want them to do.

I'd say them not rushing into an appointment with a crucial four games coming up speaks nothing of stupidity.

I'd say in that.. its a wise decision, if they decided to bring in a manager like S'OD who would potentially try and change our whole style and ethos with 2 days to go before a massive game for us that would reek of stupidity, keeping things as they are with a stable set up while they find the right canidate and steer clear of speculation by not getting involved in it, keeps the players and coaching staff focused on the job they have at hand.

he meets the exact requirement I would have thought(championship experience,can work on restricted budgets etc)....not convinced brown does.

The ultimate appointement for me would be offering a position to Alladyce until the end of the season. He won't staty aftetr that but his passion and drive to prove a point would keep us up....

Out of the alleged shortlist, if SUFC were serious about re-branding our football there was one outstanding candidate.
If you're suggesting all the coverage in recent days was based on SUFC having no contact with SOD/DRFC, I'd suggest that is highly, highly unlikely.
And if we approach someone else in the next few days, you can be sure that'll leak out as well.
That is why it was stupid to say no appointment until the NY.
Not only did it allow a clutch of games to slip by without a new manager and shoving said new manager directly into an already open transfer window, it created a vacuum for unhelpful and potentially damaging, unsettling speculation to seep into.
