At the time, I think Wilder got it spot on with Donaldson, as proven with the Sunderland game.

Teams got at us, particularly away from home and left space behind. Against Boro and Cardiff we never really had that outlet.

In the months that have followed, the respect for our play has become obvious. Teams sit back, defend, let us have the ball and as such, there's no space behind.

Both against Forest and last night, this was the case. This totally negates Donaldsons main quality which is pace.

The irony of this season, is players like this are punished because of the respect we seem to have of the division now.

The point about deep defensive lines negating him is a correct one but there'll be more games that suit Donaldson this season.

More of an issue for me is that he got hold of the ball really well at Sunderland and made it stick, but he didn't at Forest an QPR. He needs to show what he did at Sunderland to get in the team regularly.

Well we've had plenty of experience facing defensive teams in league one.
At least we are going in the right direction, and not fighting the drop.
Didn't know we bought in Donaldson in for his pace.

He scored more goals in his first game than he's had touches in his next two

Far from his best ever game last night but I still think he's an astute signing and will prove his worth this season.

I didn't think him and Clarke played close enough to each other and the more direct style Utd employed (or were forced to employ) really didn't suit him. Balls down into his feet, down the right hand channel or even over the top suit him far more than hopeful punts in his general direction.

Thought part of the problem last night was that after Moore took over in between the sticks, he dawdled a fair bit when the defensive lads came short for the ball to bring it out of defence, and by the time he caught on, the option was gone as they had pressed up on us. Moore then launched it....and the ball came back onto us cos it wasn't sticking.

Easy solution. Work on Moore in training to give the ball out to the defensive lads asap rather than kicking long, and normal build up play is back on the agenda.

More football played, more chance for the midfield lads to get on the ball and slide those balls through for the front lads.

The keeper change over affected us more than some realise. Moore needs to told to feed the defensive lads as quickly as possible.

Two bad games = player is shite

He was out for ages, give him a few games to get up to speed before writing him off
