Ever since Souttar got injured I've been worried that we aren't strong enough in the air at the back. Fortunately it hasn't really mattered ...until today. We absolutely crapped ourselves every time Vaulks launched a throw into our box today and it cost us at least a point.

When Brewster is the one winning your defensive headers you have a problem. Whichever division we are in next season we need a big, strong, mobile centre back as our first signing

Not saying JLT was great but today but Anel was absolutely atrocious today.

No one will make me believe Anel is Premier League quality.

IF we go up, we need two new CBs and a RB minimum

We will end up paying about 300k per start for Holding. Maybe he'd improve us? We'll never know

It's puzzling that we're considering offering JLT a new contract. In such an important position we need players who are dominant and who possess enough talent to use the ball intelligently and provide confidence in their fellow defenders.

Good point…I also find that often it’s Anel who is weak in this pairing.

However what is interesting is that when we had Souttar…all of a sudden Anel looked like a class defender, calm and relaxed and even making forward runs.
Think Anel enjoyed the pressure taking off him. He let Souttar dominate aerial balls into the box and Anel was there just to cover and pick up the pieces,

We need to be attacking teams in the way we did Coventry, not selecting forwards for defensive reasons. Holding for Robbo should take care of the defence.

Can remember how Oliver Tebilly was known as bombscare,are Anel and JLT a bombscare pairing or are both of them bombscares, both grappling, walking yellows,easily rattled and wound up

As well as being the dominant centre back Souttar was the organiser back there , 14 clean sheets when him & Anel were the partnership vs 6 since his injury says it all .
We’ve pissed money up the wall on a centre forward that doesn’t fit our system that could have secured a quality centre back on a permanent basis .

I'd bring three Centre half's in so robbo isn't the back up when we get the inevitable injury to one.

Holding is perfectly fine to provide cover and rotation (if that's needed). Would be relatively cheap. But we need 2 new starting centerbacks.
