Lots of reasons to be positive:
  • Won 2-1 away, to a promotion rival.
  • Came from behind to win.
  • Their first defeat at home in 10+ games.
  • The first time they conceded 2 or more in 10+ games.
  • First side to beat them there since Liverpool.
  • Dominated possession.
  • Stifled their attack, made them look ordinary.
  • Could've scored several more.
Right in amongst it, well played Blades. ⚔️

Thought we were absolutely fantastic yesterday and we faced a keeper just bang in form on stopping shots.

When it goes to pens it’s just the luck of the draw but all hit the target, even if the three that missed weren’t great. So another day the keeper dives the other way for Norwood and he doesn’t stand still for Hourihane.

I saw a post on Twitter that Samba had names and which way to dive on his water bottle.

It’s been a weird season but somehow we gave ourselves a chance until the final kick of a very long season.

Proud of these players and the staff for how they’ve recovered this season.

I went into the play offs expecting nothing, but finish it with pride that we gave everything

And no one on the bench who could come on to make a difference, so most players were on for nearly the entire 120 minutes.
Immense energy and fitness levels to play the way we do after 48 games this season with an often patched up side… and we still got 120 mins with not a single player getting cramp (on either side)

Forest will potentially struggle if they go up. Djed Spence, Keinan Davis, Philip Zinckernagel and James Garner are all on loan and will take up a large chunk of a transfer budget to sign permanently. Even if they do they then haven't strengthened the team, it's still the same one and none are guaranteed to make the step up.

I expect from that lot they'll be able to get Garner on another loan, but would have to stump up £15m+ for Spence and £10m+ for Davis which will eat in to their budget massively.

They seem to rate Max Lowe too, if they think he is good enough for the Prem then they are in for a surprise but hopefully they stump up £5m+ to take him off our hands too.

Maybe they could surprise me, but I don't see anything unique about them which means they'll fare well. On paper our squad in that first year in the Prem was nothing special but we had our own unique style which gave us an advantage - Forest don't have that. They mainly look to hit teams on the break with pace. Premier League teams are well suited to managing that. They will be more Norwich/Watford than Brentford.

The only thing going in their favour really is that the way they play is suited for the EPL. They'd need both better defenders and to replace most of their creative players though.

I in all honesty only wanted us to get in the prem to level the years in the top flight with our porcine neighbours
Actually playing in the prem is pertty awful . 8 less games 12 against teams you struggle to get a point due to the immense gap
leaving 26 games where you must get 9 wins and 7 draws to be in with a chance
46 games in the championship means double or treble the number of wins lots more goals lots more entertainment as its proper competition

the moneys great but you only treble your wage bill and these days get more females than men assessing your chances on bbc
and only play around 6 games on a saturday 3 pm per season

Their first goal, Osborne slip
Their second goal, Egan slip
Their third goal, Basham uncharacteristically done by a long ball

It is what it is, that’s football. Forest not world beaters despite the Sky wank fest.
Their first goal, Osborne slip = and lucky deflection to their man
Their second goal, Egan slip =and lucky deflection to their man
Their third goal, Basham uncharacteristically done by a long ball = and a 9 in 10 shot that hits row z

This was my thoughts entirely, how the hell?

THERE'S A MOLE IN CAMP!!!

LOWE?
FREEMAN?
BURKE?

WHODUNNIT???
I don't think it was too difficult to work out who our penalty takers would be, or that they'd do their homework on them. What strikes me most about this, is that the order is pretty much spot on. 4 out 5 in the right penalty taking order, is a little too close for my liking.

Think someone was definitely watching us train pens

Add to that ….. I must be in the minority that thought Samba made to excellent blocks, not world class saves and that he isn’t a great goalie. Pens are pens and if you guess the right way that’s 75% of the job done.

I certainly wouldn’t swap Wes for Samba over a whole season.

Samba, whether by luck or judgement, was by far their most influential player and to be fair to him he outwitted and out-shithoused our players when it mattered most.

I'd be shitting myself at the top level with him in goal though, seems like a total bombscare of a keeper.

From the mire that we were in at the start of the season, we can be happy with how we've performed since Hecky took over when at the time, a mid-table finish might have constituted a decent season off the back of the previous horror show.

It’s not an exact science but it shows that they’ve looked into it
4 of the first 5 right. Unreal.

Unless the bench overheard our bench during the game and had done their homework on each player before hand. Sure there's plenty of footage of them all taking pens.

I'm not a fan of the water bottle crib sheet tbh, but tacticians gonna tactic.

A white guy holding a drinks bottle in the stand. Must be Samba!!!

I agree with the op. Got to pens and relaxed, thinking they did bloody well. Would have great to go to Wembley, would be great for the club financially to go up.
If florist did go up I would be happy to swap Lowe for Cook.
