Sounds like the beginnings of a new song! And when your best striker is the leagues best striker and is called Sharp....

Could you rephrase the poll question? or is it me that's pissed.
I thought that I'd developed dyslexia trying to read the question.............l
The first bit almost fits to Boomtown Rats' I Don't Like Mondays ('they can see no reasons...'). Seems a pretty obvious song for us to sing, declaring a dislike for a day of the week. Have we never used it before?Sounds like the beginnings of a new song!
Burton's 'The Brewers' is pretty cool. Of course ours is the best though.
The worst ones are when it is just either, city, blues, red etc.
Bert likes Leicester's old nickname.
The Filberts.
Someone will come along soon and suggest that our nickname encourages people to go around stabbing each other. I think we should change it to something a little more contemporary. "The Flares" anyone?
They used to play at Owlerton, many older fans used to refer to their ground as Owlerton when Bert was a young man. That is possibly where their nickname came from.Putting aside the word spasm that accompanies the OP's question.......do we have the best nickname in football?
By a country mile! By several country miles in fact. Everything else pales by comparison. Plus a badge that's as good as it gets.
As for the S6 benders, I think that whoever came up with The Owls must have had a brain tumor that caused this marvel of the English language. Completely lacking in imagination then as they are now. Perhaps it's why they're an attractive proposition to to the enfeebled of South Yorkshire? Imagine, your task is to create a name synonymous with high expectation, that has clout and gravitas.....after many hours of wearying debate some poor, flat capped, chap at the back of the room shouts, "I have it...The Owls!", and from that moment of shoddy decision making we were left with the lamest name and badge the western hemisphere could summon.....I guess that if someone at said meeting had their weasel or stote with them then you can guess the outcome.

The Media refer to a small number of clubs by their nicknames, Blades, Wolves, Spurs
Ours is the best
Yeah, & it's unique in our case with it not relating to the name of the club.
Can't think of another case in football where a nickname is synonymous with a club like this (other than diminutives of the club name like you've mentioned).
One of a kind, truly.
Canaries?
Cobblers?
Hatters?
