Disgusting cheating Blades at it again

Not a player I'd have liked at the Lane, but one of my favourite of recent times. He's hilarious, bursting with character and knows where the back of the net is too. Watching some people trying to mark him at set pieces is bound to bring a smile to anyone's face.

Apparently he gave Carter-Vickers a good going over when Wycombe played Spurs in the Cup.

He's what I call a "fun player" (and I'm stealing this from another sport). Not the best, but fun to watch, fun to talk about, fun to make fun of even. JCR is another player that fits the Fun player description.

Yeah, he ragged him all over the place. So what do you do if you have a young defender that needs toughening up? Send him to the Blades.

Really don't see how he can be punished for this if he didn't appeal (indeed, he played the ball whilst down). If he is punished, essentially what they're saying is, you can't trip / fall over unchallenged in the area just in case the referee makes an error.

Looked possibly to me he didn't like the challenge coming in from the defender???? Didn't seem to appeal for anything or look at ref.

Why would a Carlisle United striker being banned for diving be reported otherwise, Sean?

Not sure what you mean by otherwise Danny. The Star tend to report on topics where United are linked to someone's wrong doing. Julian Broddle for instance. "Ex Sheffield United player" started the headline rather than PC sacked for cocaine abuse.

Near the bottom of the article you managed to say "he also played for Barnsley". Presumably the Barnsley on line version started worth "Ex Barnsley player".

Or did it?

Btw. He played once for our first team then eventually had three years at Barnsley, even though St Mirren appear to be an English club according to the hack who wrote the piece.

Personally I have been saying for sometime that the football authorities should bring this rule in. I did not know they had. As usual they have been very slow to take advantage of the modern technology which enables this to be done. "Diving" or what should just be called cheating has sadly been in the game for some years, mainly imported through foreign players but is now widespread as is feigning injury or over reacting by rolling around in agony when there has been little or no contact. The only way to stamp this out is to use "trial by video" retrospectively. The issue will doubtless be whether the football authorities have the bollocks to use it against the overpaid numpties in the PL. hopefully they will and after one or two suspensions the diving will stop. The rule could then may be extended to feigning injury.
So far as Shaun Miller is concerned I can't tell from the video whether he has dived or not but I don't have the technology to zoom in or slow it down but if the video is not clear then he should get away with it.

Didn’t look like he’s claimed a pen to me? So the ref gives a pen, then the player goes to the ref and says ‘he never touched me ref I just fell over’ does the ref change the decision, Or if he doesn’t then the players gets a ban!?

A player i have no memory of....

I can’t often do this, and I hugely admire the memory of those that can like Silent Blade and Revolution but I know that Shaun Miller scored in a 3-0 win against Scunthorpe on Boxing Day 2012 and that he later went off injured and was out for months (cruciate ?) I believe we went top of the league with the win.

The reason I can remember this is because it was my daughter’s one and only visit to BDTBL. She distinguished herself as we trudged through the sleet on the way to the ground by saying, “Dad, it’s a bit cold - there will be heating inside the ground, right?” :)

I'm sure there was an incident when Fowler was playing for Liverpool and went down, the ref gave a penalty even though Fowler told him he'd actually just fallen over. If I remember it correctly he took the penalty and passed it tamely down the middle towards the keeper. Proper sportsmanship that!

I'm not sure about the second bit but I definitely remember him telling a ref it wasn't a penalty.

Me too. This is the only way it will be stamped out, but I'm not sure how effective it will be if it is only applied in the event of a penalty or a red card. It's a start anyway.

I was only about 7 or 8 I think so don't remember it clearly, I could have created the second bit to give the story a nice ending ;)
Yeah, you could be right, I just don't remember. It's my age.

2 match ban for Miller says the 3-man panel. Adkins might have been one of the 3 on the panel that judged this one – he’s one of the 8 managers that could look at these types of incident.

That Wycombe change kit doesn't do much for Akinfenwa. Even going back through the years I have a never seen a player with his physique able to hold down a place in a professional team. Quite unique.
He’s a chunky lad alreight...

Things are looking up, at least the article didn’t say “ex-Sheffield United star” .....

Wanna bet? Our fat friend Martin Samuel couldn't wait:

Shaun Miller was born in Alsager, Cheshire, and has had an unremarkable career involving spells at Crewe, Sheffield United, Coventry and Morecambe.

He is currently with Carlisle and may soon be a quiz question, as the first player to be convicted of 'successful deception of a match official' by a Football Association panel. In other words, diving.

Miller hit the ground to win a penalty against Wycombe on Tuesday, and now faces a two-game ban. Proof, if any were needed, that cheating is not some nasty foreign habit and is not contained within the top league. Salt of the earth types do it, too.
(Yeah, like Steve Gerrard? Dele Alli? Cunt.)

:fattwat: Link

Fatboy's latest article - published on 19th Oct. - is a masterpiece even by the standards of the 'Sports Journalist of the Year'. He continues his rants against corruption within FIFA, Qatar, PSG but doesn't seem to think West Ham do anything underhand...

Even saying "there is contact" gets me. Its a contact sport FFS just because someones is touched in penalty box isn't an automatic penalty despite what Shearer and the clowns on MOTD would have you believe

Absolutely. If there's contact that doesn't knock you off balance but upon feeling it you choose to throw yourself to the floor to deceive the ref into thinking it has knocked you off balance, then you're a cheating cunt regardless of what retired cheating cunts like Shearer and Savage say. Only point I'd make to counter that is that if there's contact, it can be very difficult for the ref or even those with the benefit of a replay to identify such cheating
